On video: Documenting an attack on a driver in a matron in Haifa (Walla system!)

A bus driver in Haifa was violently attacked last week by a passenger, who broke his nose and bruised his chest and ribs.

The attacking man is a passenger who apparently did not have time to get off at one of the stations.

He shouted at the driver to open the door, and after he asked him to turn to him politely, hit him in the chest.

The driver informed the control that he was attacked, but did not have time to close the driver's compartment.

The passenger, who took his two small children who were with him off the matron, got on again and attacked the driver once more, breaking his nose and causing injuries to his chest and ribs.

In the documentation of the event, you can see how the man punches the driver repeatedly, pulls his hair and refuses to let go.

All this, in front of his wife and small children.

"Like a car without brakes, he drove into me. I don't understand it - you already 'introduced yourself', 'put me in,' why get off the bus and then come back just to beat me?" said A, the driver who was attacked.

"What is constantly in my mind is the crying of his daughter who sees everything. I don't understand what kind of person does such a thing in front of his children. I saw that in his mind he was coming to kill me. I only prayed that he would leave me. You see that this is a person who is trained to hurt."

Tam Promowitz, head of the transportation branch at "Power for Workers", said in response to the incident that "this is a case of unusual violence in its severity, but not surprising. We are witnessing an increase in cases of assault on drivers - about 20% compared to last year - and the day is not far off when a driver will pay with his life. It is easy to ignore and say that these are extreme cases, but shamefully, the contempt for public transport drivers starts from the top. It is unthinkable that public transport drivers are still not recognized as public servants."
