There will be a folk festival in Penzberg this year.

The city of Penzberg has found a landlord: Holger Regulator from Eichstätt has signed a contract.

The city announced on Tuesday.

Penzberg – After the short-term cancellation of the folk festival by the Fahren host family in mid-July, Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU) was now successful in finding an alternative.

Initially, talks with the first replacement landlord fell through, but it worked for the second landlord: Holger Regulator from Eichstätt has now signed the implementation contract.

The city of Penzberg announced this on Tuesday.

"The preparations for the folk festival, which is to take place in almost unchanged form from Friday, August 26, 2022 to Sunday, September 4, 2022, on the festival meadow on the Berghalde, are going on at full speed," it continues .

Also kick-off with free beer on the town square

"The Penzberger Volksfest can take place - which may sound almost unbelievable given the short time we had after the surprising cancellation of our first innkeeper: But we now have an innkeeper, a tent, a brewery and we have showmen," said Mayor Korpan report from vacation.

There should also be the usual start to the festival on the town square, including dance performances by the traditional costume associations and a free beer bar.

"After that there will be a traditional procession to the Berghalde", says Korpan, who invites the local traditional associations to take part.

Daily festival with many show bands and bands

"I'm looking forward to Penzberg," Holger Controller is quoted as saying in the press release.

The 49-year-old restaurateur has already organized folk festivals in Schwaig near Nuremberg, in Tirschenreuth, in Haimhausen and currently in Kelheim.

According to the city, his tent offers space for around 2,200 people, and there should also be a beer garden.

In contrast to the actually planned innkeeper, the search for personnel is not a problem for Regulator: "I have my team together." Only two stand-ins for the kitchen would still be missing.

The host has also received the confirmations from the bands and bands for the show program, according to the announcement.

Showmen remain loyal to Penzberg

There are also a few showmen at Holger Controller's side.

Kurt Geier, for example, who is the third generation to run the family business of the same name, has put together a selection of rides and entertainment establishments.

He jumped in spontaneously so that the Penzberg folk festival can now take place after all.

"My circle of showmen friends helped me to keep the Penzberg folk festival alive," says Geier.

According to the announcement, folk festival fans can look forward to bumper cars, a chain carousel and a children's carousel, a traditional shooting range and a stall selling chocolate and confectionery.

And further: Showman spokesman Geier praised the good cooperation with Mayor Stefan Korpan, who was tirelessly looking for solutions for the folk festival.

The office will be set up at the end of August

According to host Holger Controller, a festival office will be set up on the festival grounds in Penzberg, but reservations, it is said, can only be accepted there from the first day of the festival (Friday, August 26) due to the short organizational lead time.
