The New Year's Eve concert planned by Rammstein on the Theresienwiese in Munich causes a lot of explosives.

Now the Tollwood organizers are also speaking up.

Munich – A huge New Year's Eve concert on the Theresienwiese: With this announcement, Rammstein caused a stir in Munich last week.

So far it has been clear: In order for the mega event at the turn of the year to actually take place in the state capital, the green light from the city council is still needed.

On Wednesday, August 10th, a vote is to be taken in the town hall.

But now the Tollwood speaks up.

Since 1992, the Tollwood Winter Festival, including a New Year's Eve party and gala, has been taking place during the Advent season, this year from November 24th to December 31st.

The Tollwood organizers find it difficult to imagine how a huge concert should take place in the same place.

"On Thursday, August 4th, we learned from the newspaper that a Rammstein concert with 145,000 visitors is planned on the Theresienwiese on New Year's Eve," says a press release from Tollwood GmbH.

And further: “We have not been informed by any body about these plans so far.

It is also not true that the organizing agency spoke to Tollwood - as has been reported."

Economics officer Clemens Baumgärtner told the SZ that he could imagine the two events happening side by side.

Tollwood GmbH, on the other hand, sees things very differently: "We don't think it's possible to hold a Rammstein concert with sound reinforcement and safety precautions for 145,000 people at the same time as our New Year's Eve party and the relatively quiet New Year's Eve gala with a circus theater production and dancing to swing music. "

At the same time, the organizers concede that "it is not up to us to judge the importance of this concert for Munich".

However, the press reported that four Rammstein concerts in the Olympic Stadium were already being planned for 2023.

Tollwood also does not want to stand in the way if the city decides in favor of the big concert.

"However, we would like to emphasize that we are already in advance sales for the Tollwood Winter Festival and have signed contracts." From the point of view of the organizers, "a few questions still have to be clarified" before the Rammstein concert is confirmed.

The press release ends with a clear statement: "We would like to have more planning security for the coming years".
