Scientists in the field of astronomers and physicists confirmed that the length of the Earth's day is constantly decreasing, as the Earth began to rotate since 2016 at a faster pace.
And the German Deutsche Welle website stated that the Earth recently recorded its shortest day ever. On the twenty-ninth of June 2022, the Earth made one complete revolution around itself, at a rate of about 1.59 milliseconds less than the average day length of 86,400 seconds, or 24 hours.
And while a decrease in day length may not seem like much, it is part of a larger and worrying trend, according to scientists.
On the 26th of July 2022, a new record was set when the Earth ended its day at a rate less than usual by 1.50 milliseconds.
These events, according to scientists, indicate that 2020 witnessed the largest number of short days since scientists began using atomic clocks to take daily measurements in the 1960s and first noticed this in 2016.
