The son of a woman from Munich, who lives in London, was informed by mobile phone that a smoke detector had been activated.

He called the police.

Munich/London – It is a lifesaver in a roundabout way.

A woman from Munich forgot her food on the stove during the night from Friday to Saturday (5/6 August) and fell asleep.

The food caught fire and the fire alarm went off immediately.

But the woman did not notice him – in contrast to her son who lives in London.

Smoke detector saves Munich woman's life – through son in London

While the woman in Munich listened to the beeping of the smoke alarm while she was asleep, her son, who lives in London, received a message on his smartphone.

He immediately informed the police in the British capital, who in turn contacted the Munich police.

The officials in Munich then alerted the Munich fire department.

These drove immediately to the reported address.

A spokesman later stated that the food left on the stove was the cause of the alarm and the fire.

Fire in Munich apartment: Son from London saves mother's life in Munich

Long live the digital age: With the help of a surveillance camera, the son, who is in London, directed the firefighters into the apartment and described the situation.

He was then able to follow the operation live from a distance.

Fortunately, the woman was taken out of the apartment unharmed.

After the end of the operation, the woman was able to return to her apartment, according to the fire department.

Nothing is known about the amount of damage caused.
