The police today (Tuesday) arrested a resident of Rosh Ha-Ein, Gabriel Mitana (51), on suspicion of having committed a hit-and-run accident in which Mazal Marhum, an 85-year-old elderly woman from Rosh Ha-Ein, was killed.
She is survived by her husband, six children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
According to the suspicion, a gift hit the rest two weeks ago while she was crossing the road near the police station.
He seriously injured her and fled the scene.
After a week in the hospital, Marham died of her injuries.
Mitana denies what is attributed to him, but his detention was extended by six days at the Magistrate's Court in Petah Tikva.
"Just yesterday we got up from the seven," says Shlomo, Marham's son.
"We were informed by the police that the driver was arrested. This created excitement in the family."
He said about the accident: "My mother was returning home from Torah class, she crossed the road near the police station in the city and a car ran over her. He crushed her and threw her forward, and left the scene. There was a girl there who helped her and called an ambulance. She was taken to the hospital when she She was conscious. They took x-rays and found out she had bleeding in the liver, brain damage, broken ribs and a pelvic injury. She was crushed and put in intensive care, but didn't survive it. After a week she passed away. She was a perfectly healthy woman, never took any pills. She was active and went to classes."
