On the impact of the words of heritage and the warmth of its tunes, the fingers and voices of 17 musicians and singers from the Shejan Music Ensemble, led by the artist Nofal Darbouli and the artist Fatma Diop, gathered to bring the audience back to the memory of beautiful art through a musical evening hosted on the stage of the Culture Palace in Homs.

The evening, organized by Mada’s cultural team, came as part of a series of hymns under the title “Songs from Memory,” and its varied program included a combination of traditional and folkloric songs from the Syrian governorates.

The musical instruments gathered on the melodies of Al-Qudoud Al-Halabi, to start the evening program with the songs of the late singer Sabah Fakhri, “Ah Ya Halo Yamselini”, “Galouli Be”, “Taht Hodja” and “Awal Ten My Beloved” to move to the original singing with “Amenat Billah” by singer Laure Daccache.

As part of its program Medley, the band dedicated “Ya Mother of Sweet Looks” tribute to the soul of its writer Issam Junaid, a Homsi folk song “Ya Asina Yazin” and “Shou Sweet Yasnini” by the late singer Azar Habib, “Ana Lei Ali Aliki Mushtaq” by Joseph Saqr, and “Jaitni Makhbeya” by Muwaffaq Bhagat.

The evening concluded with the audience participating in the band singing a variety of turquoise and folk and patriotic songs.

The director of the cultural “Mada” project, Ramiz Al-Hussein, indicated in a statement to SANA Cultural that the evening is part of a series of evenings organized by the Mada Cultural Project and called it a series of hymns, and it carries in its content the idea of ​​renewal and moving away from stereotypes by relying on singing groups that mimic the young generation and attract them to heritage songs and the introduction of patterns New through the audience's participation in singing with the band.

In turn, the band’s leader, artist Nofal Darbouli, stated that the band seeks, within its project, to revive Syria’s heritage and folklore, so that the popular song reaches the young generation and sheds light on Homsi pilgrims in particular and the flags of Arab music in cooperation with the distinguished musical expertise in which the city of Homs is famous.
