We already know GTA 6 is in development, Rockstar confirmed it a few months ago.

Since then we have received no more news or additional statements and we are forced to hold on to every rumor and leak on the web in order to get a shred of information about the expected launch date.

But now we get a direct reference to the project from

, CEO of Take-Two, Rockstar's distributor.

Zelnick spoke about the new title in the series during an investor meeting and updated: "While the next title in the GTA series is in development, the team at Rockstar is determined to create a game that will redefine the creative standard for the gaming industry, and the entertainment industry in general, as every previous title in the series did before it."

What can we learn from the statement of the CEO of Take-Two?

Whether you are hyped or not about the game, this is a particularly interesting and intriguing statement.

There is a chance that Strauss Zelnick is referring to the fact that GTAs are open world games that present players with a "private playground" where they can do whatever they want and play with the game mechanics in a variety of different ways.

Just as GTA IV pushed the boundaries of the open world when it first came out in 2008, so did GTA V when it came out in 2013, and the same will likely be the case with the new title in the series - which may set new industry standards for open world and interactivity.

This ties directly into the rumor that surfaced a few months ago claiming that GTA 6's engine would be ahead of its time, which we talked about at length.

Of course, there is the possibility that this is inflated expectations just for the sake of hype, but if we look at Rockstar's history with each new GTA title, it has definitely raised the bar of expectations and quality - so the saying "creative benchmark for the industry" can certainly fit.

So when will we get GTA 6?

According to rumors circulating online and later confirmed by Rockstar employees, the next game won't be coming our way for the next two years, and that's at best.

It was also revealed that the plan is to return the players to Vice City, and introduce a female protagonist alongside the male character, while the plot of the game will focus on a pair of criminals in the style of "Bonnie and Clyde".
