The medical director of the Regensburg University Hospital asked his employees in a circular not to give notice, even if they were not vaccinated.

Regensburg – Since March 2022, facility-related corona vaccination has been mandatory nationwide, at least in theory.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) initially refused to enforce the regulation.

It means that employees in medical and nursing facilities have to prove their vaccination protection, and the employer should report all those who have not been vaccinated to the authorities.

This would result in fines and work bans.

According to the Ministry of Health, between 56,000 and 57,000 unvaccinated employees were identified in the Bavarian health care system by July 1, but apparently there have not yet been any fines.

Bavaria hardly takes action when it comes to compulsory vaccination, just like other federal states.

The director of the Regensburg University Hospital therefore asked his unvaccinated employees not to fire them.

Corona vaccination requirement in clinics: Director in Regensburg writes a circular to all employees

The

Berliner Zeitung

published the circular from the medical director, Prof. Oliver Kölbl.

The letter states that the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care (StMGP) has informed the hospital that the health authorities are currently not imposing “neither fines nor entry and employment bans” with regard to the facility-related vaccination requirement.

Several reasons are listed in the letter.

On the one hand, there are probably unresolved legal questions, and on the other hand, staff shortages are also to blame.

"Ensuring security of supply" is therefore the top priority.

The director therefore asks all affected employees to wait for further developments and decisions and "not to consider any measures to possibly terminate the employment relationship at the UKR".

Unfortunately, there is still no permanent legal clarity.

Facility-related corona vaccination: Holetschek calls for lifting at the end of September

At the beginning of July, the Bavarian Minister of Health Klaus Holetschek (CSU) called for the institution-related compulsory vaccination to be suspended early on September 30 so that the staffing situation in the clinics does not worsen.

The hospital society had also called for the end of partial vaccination.

With regard to the fine notices, Holetschek told the German Press Agency that the Free State relied on a staged procedure with a sense of proportion.

Other states seem to be doing the same thing.

According to Bild am Sonntag

, more than 190,000 unvaccinated employees were identified

in 12 of 16 federal states , but only 70 entry bans were issued in North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Brandenburg.
