Two days after the senior's arrest, it became clear to the security forces that the Islamic Jihad could not be removed from the tree and that it intended to carry out an anti-tank attack. The launch of the operation was only a matter of time.

Operation "Dawn", step by step:

On Friday, at exactly 16:16, two fighter jets from the Air Force's 107 Squadron dropped eight bombs one after the other at the house where the commander of the northern sector of the Islamic Jihad, Taysir Jabari, was staying. .

Exactly as planned, the bombs penetrated through the seventh floor of the 14-story building to the sixth floor, where Jabari was staying.

Jabari found his death immediately, along with his assistants.

The IDF revealed these details today (Tuesday), a day and a half after the ceasefire came into effect.

The IDF admits today that although they were surprised by the fact that the arrest of a senior member of the Islamic Jihad drew such a sharp response from the organization in the Gaza Strip, they were not surprised that the rebellious organization in the Gaza Strip would be ready to confront Israel.

After the arrest, on the night between Monday and Tuesday of last week, the commander of the Southern Command, Major General Eliezer Toledano, decided to close the roads near the Gaza Strip.

After two days in which it became clear that the Islamic Jihad could not be dissuaded from its intention to carry out an anti-tank attack, the decision was made on Wednesday evening to launch the operation, and the execution was only a question of time and operational opportunity.

The IDF realized that in order to strengthen the deterrence that was damaged with the closure of the hinges, there was no choice but to act. The new details indicate that it was decided to eliminate Jabari on Friday afternoon, while it was also considered a relatively "sleepy" time in the Gaza Strip.

Jabari hid on the sixth floor of a 14-story building called Burj Palestine, in the Sajaiya neighborhood of Gaza, next to his wife.

In a nearby apartment was a family of uninvolved citizens.

Operation "Dawn",

For many hours the Air Force worked on finding the best way to eliminate Jabari without harming civilians or Hamas members.

Finally, it was decided to launch a relatively small bomb through the seventh floor, in order for it to penetrate the sixth floor and explode above Jabari.

The Air Force sent seven additional bombs to the scene in accordance with advance planning - a lesson learned from previous attempts at thwarting, from which terrorists managed to escape alive.

Within 180 seconds, Abdullah Kadum was also eliminated from the air, and the IDF also attacked Hamas outposts and observation posts.

A quarter of an hour later, at 4:30 p.m., the IDF spokesman announced that the IDF had launched an operation against the Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip.

The next day, on Saturday night, the opportunity came to eliminate the commander of the southern sector of the Islamic Jihad, Khaled Mansour.

Already in the afternoon, the Shin Bet knew where the terrorist was staying, but the Air Force identified children near his hiding apartment, and decided to wait with the action.

In the evening they decided to act.

Around 21:30, bombs were fired at the three floors of the building where he was staying.

In these operations, as well as in additional attacks during the operation, unmanned aircraft also participated, which today can already be said to have attack capabilities.

The remotely manned aircraft made 111 sorties during the 55 hours of the operation, and at the peak they were deployed in dozens of different locations.

According to the Air Force, during the operation only fifteen percent of its offensive capabilities were used, and the achievement was achieved mainly thanks to the fact that the targets attacked were of high quality.

According to Air Force data, during the operation 197 munitions were dropped in the Gaza Strip, 2,149 reserve personnel were activated and two Iron Dome batteries were mobilized in reserve.

Islamic Jihad's largest barrage involved launching between 60 and 100 rockets simultaneously at the same location.

In total, Islamic Jihad launched 1,171 rockets towards Israeli territory, and Iron Dome fighters intercepted about 380 of them, in accordance with the interception policy.

The air defense system recorded a phenomenal 96.7% success rate.
