The Landsberieder village festival is known far beyond the local borders.

The reason is the legendary pond bar, which is always set up in the village pond.

This year it was finally that time again: Around 1700 visitors celebrated late into the night on and around the Oberlacha.

Landsberied

- The boys from Landsberied need a good week to prepare everything for the village festival.

"The construction of the Weiherbar is particularly complex every year," says Sebastian Meschgang from the boys' association.

15 people help together.

First, a steel girder that keeps the bar "afloat" is attached to the village pond.

The wooden base frame is then lifted with a crane and attached to the steel girder.

Then the jetty leading to the bar is added.

Finally, the floors for the bridge and base frame are mounted.

“We usually need three hours for all these steps.

You can manage that in one evening if you have enough helpers," explains Alexander Schilling from the boys' association.

The rest of the week is then spent building a roof for possible bad weather and the actual bar on top of the wooden frame.

It will then be equipped with lights and jukeboxes.

The Weiherbar has been an integral part of the event since the first village festival in 1984.

During the planning, the idea came up that the Oberlacha should be included.

This is how the idea of building a bar on the village pond came about.

There was dancing and partying in Landsberied until late into the night.

At that time it was built from old beams from a demolished house and had a floor area of just seven square meters.

In the meantime, it has been expanded to around twenty square meters and thus offers plenty of space to enjoy a cool drink on the pond.

In addition to the pond bar, there is always the snow measure bar.

"Since the popular drink made of vanilla ice cream, lemonade and double grain is not very common at parties, it attracts people year after year," says Meschgang.

Under its large canopy, it offers space for several hundred people.

And that was necessary this year.

Because the weather gods didn't mean it so well.

Nevertheless, the visitors did not let their spirits spoil - also thanks to the legendary pond bar.
