The district council recently decided to set up a working group to deal with the reallocation of water rights at the Walchensee power plant.

Not represented: the municipality of Kochel.

There was criticism for that.

Kochel – The water rights at the Walchensee power plant expire at the end of 2030.

At the request of the Free Voters faction, the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district council recently decided to set up a “Water Rights” working group on behalf of all towns and communities in the district.

Prior to this, the municipality of Kochel had recommended in a statement that one representative from each of the mainly affected municipalities of Kochel, Jachenau and Lenggries should be included in the working group.

This was rejected by the majority of the district and environmental committee (we reported).

Mayor is disappointed with the decision at the district level

In the most recent municipal council meeting, Kochel's mayor Thomas Holz (CSU) was disappointed.

In the process of reassigning the water rights to the Walchensee power plant, Tölzer Isar power plant and Straßlacher Mühltal power plant, authorities, municipalities, interest groups and power plant operators are asked to comment.

The district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen is also allowed to express itself as a regional authority for its towns and communities.

A working group made up of representatives from all district parliamentary groups is now to familiarize itself with the complex matter and prepare an opinion capable of consensus.

All struggles for a suitable wording brought nothing

In its June meeting, Kochel's municipal council dealt with the application of the free voters and prepared a letter to the district council.

"If the district is supposed to make a statement, then please take a special look at the affected communities," Holz demanded, adding: "We're being talked about, we have all the power lines, the lowering of Lake Walchensee, the power plant." The exact wording of the letter had been the subject of intense debate at the council table.

With the original version, the participation of the affected communities of Kochel, Jachenau and Lenggries should prevent the district from "representing a possibly contrary view", Sonja Mayer (middle), Bettina Sindlhauser (Freie Bürger Ried) and Klaus Barthel (SPD) had stomach ache .

"With this formulation, the rejection is certain,

Affected communities are heard in the process

The group finally agreed on the proposal by Veronika Lautenbacher (CSU) and called for the interests of the communities that were particularly affected to be “sufficiently taken into account”.

The fine adjustment of the wording was useless, the expansion of the district council working group to include participants from the three communities was rejected in Bad Tölz.

The working group is getting too big, the mayors are allowed to make statements anyway, it said.

Mayor finds decision "completely incomprehensible"

Incomprehensible to wood.

He still thinks it is "quite normal and completely understandable" that the affected municipality wants to work together and make its expertise available, he explained.

It is not enough to only be able to attend individual meetings sporadically.

"We are not involved in the opinion-forming process," Holz said angrily.

In his eyes, not only a pity, but a fatal mistake.

"The opportunity for close cooperation between the three communities and the district was missed," he judged.
