There are few events that Queen Elizabeth II almost never misses, and the official welcoming ceremony at Balmoral Castle is one of them.

This year, however, the plans for the reception were thrown overboard at short notice.

A cancellation that once again raises concerns about the regent's health.

Balmoral – Queen Elizabeth II (96) cannot take her summer break, which usually begins in mid-July and lasts until October.

Year after year, the British monarch travels to her Scottish residence, Balmoral Castle, where she is given a fitting reception.

A traditional event that could not take place as planned this time.

The curious royal fans who normally congregate outside Balmoral to catch a glimpse of the Queen have been disappointed this year.

As the "Mirror" reported, the 96-year-old had to throw her plans overboard shortly before.

Queen Elizabeth II apparently wanted to take part in the welcome ceremony in front of the palace until the last, but instead the reception was held on a small scale behind the palace walls.

"The traditional reception at Balmoral is usually a fixture on the Queen's calendar and something Her Majesty really enjoys [...].

It is a great disappointment that the ceremony will not take place in its traditional form," an insider had previously confided to the "Mirror".

At the ceremony, Queen Elizabeth II will meet the soldiers of the Guard of Honor of the 5th Battalion, who are part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Cancellations or changes to appointments continue to cause concern and unrest among Queen Elizabeth II's compatriots.

The regent has repeatedly had to cancel appearances in recent months and has had to contend with mobility problems, among other things.

Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Scotland in July.

Before moving to Balmoral Castle, she took up residence at Craigowan Lodge.

The Tam Na Ghar Cottage, which William (40) and Kate often move into in the summer, is also very close by.
