Whoever was promoted that evening did a great deal for the town of Unterschleißheim.

There was a relaxed atmosphere at the summer reception.

Unterschleißheim

– honor where honor is due.

The city of Unterschleißheim has honored deserving city councilors and citizens.

Because Corona thwarted two New Year's receptions, the city invited to the first summer reception in the town hall and made up for the honors in summery cheerfulness.

Sophie Kompe, the Umbrella Poets and Benjamin Straßer presented the awards.

About 450 guests heard and saw volunteer songs, volunteer balloons and volunteer films.

First of all, Sophie Kompe noticed common qualities in ten former city councillors: an alert mind, approachability, openness to dialogue and sporting stamina.

So farewell: Alexander Kieslich, Stefanie Leimböck, Theodor Pregler, Karl Rammelsberger, Rebecca Riedelbauch, Michael Schessl, Stefan Schneiders, Renata Schuster, Manfred Utz and Jolanta Wrobel.

Funny portraits

Then the roles had to be swapped briefly, because Mayor Christoph Böck and moderator Benjamin Straßer were honored for 20 and 15 years of membership in the city council.

The umbrella poets then presented humorous portraits of Brigitte Huber (sporty), Ludwig Pettinger (calm) and Bernd Knatz (sporty), whose 25-year membership of the city council was honored with the silver citizen's medal.

Cinematic presentation

The achievements of the Medal of Honor recipients and the recipient of the Citizen's Medal were presented on film.

The common framework for Stephan Honal, Brigitte Fleischmann (both silver medal of honor) and Ernst Schmitter (gold medal of honor) was the church of St. Ulrich, in which all three are involved: whether at the one-world shop, at the Unterschleißheim table or in the church building association.

The second film showed the work of Katharina Bednarek, which began 32 years ago in the municipal council - and met with resistance, the protagonist of the film remembers the word "pot" - and for which she received the citizen's medal in gold at the summer reception.

make people visible

For this evening, however, the employees of the Treats were at the cooking pots and served colorful bowls at the end of the evening in a convivial atmosphere.

With all the lightness of the performance, Böck pointed out the deeper meaning of the summer reception.

It is a major concern of the city to make deserving people visible, to put them in the first row and thus to express gratitude.

Because the enthusiasm, empathy and ingenuity of the volunteers are anything but a matter of course.
