The Starnberg McDonald's branch is currently only accessible with restrictions, currently only the drive-in counter is open.

This is due to the work on the Starnberg Tunnel.

Starnberg

– Further stages of the work to prepare the Starnberg Tunnel are already casting their shadows in some places after the northern access route (Münchner Straße) has been completed.

For example, the McDonald's restaurant on Münchner Strasse can only serve customers at the drive-in counter for a total of three months.

The reason: Preparatory work is already taking place for construction work on the nearby railway bridge, which is scheduled to begin next year.

Because the bridge has to be wider, cable ducts have to be relocated.

And for that, the parking lot of the fast food restaurant is needed.

It has been cordoned off with a site fence since the beginning of July.

"From today's perspective, this situation will last until October 10, 2022," said the state building authority in Weilheim on request.

In mid-September, the drive-in counter will also not be accessible for about a week.

"Then we will be closed for a short time," says restaurant operator Michael Heinritzi.

All measures take place in close consultation with the state building authority in Weilheim.

One does not want to stand in the way and support a measure that is useful for society.

Heinritzi assumes that normal operations will be possible again from mid-October.

Only the number of parking spaces will be slightly reduced when the actual bridge work begins next year.

The traffic routing on the site will probably be changed, the drive-in will then be approached from the other direction.

However, the access road from Münchner Straße, which can only be accessed from the city center – as always, remains in place.

"It's not yet clear to us what it will be like one day when the tunnel is finished, how guests will come to our restaurant," says Heinritzi.

For the time being, however, he sees no major problems.

Deutsche Bahn is planning to rebuild the bridge next to the existing one in 2023.

According to current plans, the railway line will be closed for about a week in about a year so that the new bridge can be lifted.
