An indispensable body for the city of Moosburg is the Senior Citizens' Advisory Board.

In order for the work to continue, dedicated seniors are currently being sought, says seniors' officer Karin Linz in an interview.

Moosburg

- For 19 years, the Senior Citizens' Advisory Board of the City of Moosburg has been campaigning for the interests of the older generation - with success.

The honorary committee, which was founded on August 5, 2003, will be re-elected in autumn.

City councilor and senior citizens' officer Karin Linz hopes that candidates will be found again so that the successful work can be continued - and Moosburg remains "loveable and worth living in" for older citizens.

The Seniors' Advisory Board in Moosburg has been in existence for almost 20 years.

How important is this body to the city?

The senior citizens' advisory board is a very important part of the city of Moosburg.

Our offers are very well received.

We can not imagine that there is no longer a senior advisory board.

But it's always very difficult to find candidates to continue.

Is that a problem that only Moosburg has, or do you see it in other communities too?

That's how it is in Moosburg.

In Hallbergmoos, for example, there are so many candidates that they can and must choose.

What exactly does the Senior Advisory Board do?

We want to make Moosburg lovable and livable for the older generation.

Accessibility is one of them, for example – we have already taken a big step in this regard.

For example, we have created a list of restaurants, pharmacies and doctors, all of which are barrier-free.

The lowering of cobblestones, the construction of benches and the attachment of missing handrails are also topics.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

In short: They are committed to the interests of the elderly.

Exactly.

The Senior Citizens' Advisory Board acts as a guide between older people and the city council, city administration, social associations and institutions, and offers regular consultation hours to inform and advise older people about offers of help.

For example, the Chair Dr.

Dagmar Seghutera voluntary housing advice on barrier-free conversion.

There was also a project with young people, wasn't there?

Right!

There was already a school project in which seventh graders showed older fellow citizens how to use mobile phones and tablets.

How senior-friendly is Moosburg now?

Much has already been achieved, but there is still much to be done.

I'm thinking of neighborhood management, for example.

If, for example, older people want to exchange a larger apartment for a smaller one, it would be good if there was a neighborhood manager in the city who would coordinate everything - also with young families in mind.

What's on your personal to-do list?

I have a multi-generation house in mind - I would like to initiate this with the support of my city council colleagues in this legislative period.

If several people pull together, that's better.

Who can serve on the Senior Advisory Board?

You have to live in Moosburg and be at least 60 years old.

Otherwise there are no obstacles whatsoever - neither religion, party nor anything else.

Everything is allowed.

How complex is the work in the Senior Advisory Board?

There is one session every month – it usually lasts an hour.

And then there are individual tasks: my husband takes care of the internet, for example, and we need a secretary.

We don't need a cashier - everything that concerns finances goes through the city of Moosburg.

If events take place, the tasks are distributed.

You have to spend a certain amount of time, but it's doable for everyone.

When exactly will the election take place?

The date is not fixed yet.

But in the fall we will conduct the election.

We need six candidates again, who will be elected for three years.

What is your wish for the Senior Advisory Board?

My greatest wish is for the cooperation to continue as well as it has so far.

Everything else will emerge over time.
