Tutzing – lucky in misfortune had an 83-year-old man and a twelve-year-old boy who capsized with their dinghy on Lake Starnberg near the community of Tutzing.
Two lifeguards happened to pass by last Tuesday evening and alerted a colleague from the nearby water rescue station.
A sailor passing by the two castaways ignored the two men.
The two hypothermic people were quickly brought ashore by the water rescuers and given medical care.
They set the dinghy up again.
The willingness to help is probably not pronounced with every sailing colleague.
The two men struggled with their boat for 30 minutes and the passing sailor simply ignored them, the two reported.
They were very happy when they discovered the lifeguard's emergency boat, because they had already gotten quite cold and their strength was also decreasing.
Simon Ulrich, the technical director of the local water rescue group in Tutzing, emphasized, "You are always a rescuer if you work on a voluntary basis in an aid organization.
So it goes without saying that if you want to go swimming, a "He could at least have asked questions when we waved and called to him," said the hypothermic man.
“This was an isolated case of a lack of willingness to help.
We are glad that a lot of water sports seekers and passers-by on land do not follow this example" said the chairman of the Tutzing water rescue service, Robert Lettenbauer.
After an hour, Jolle was rescued and the two patients fit again for the short journey home.
