The Greek Coast Guard announced today that it is continuing to search for dozens of migrants who went missing in the Aegean Sea after a boat sank. The migrants who went missing in the Aegean Sea after their boat sank off the island of Karpathos.

The official pointed out that four ships were in the area of the sinking boat, two patrol boats belonging to the coast guard and a helicopter of the Greek Air Force participating in the search operations for the migrants, pointing out that strong winds are still hampering these operations.
He explained that the boat sailed from the Turkish city of Antalya towards Italy before it sank off the island of Karpathos.
Hundreds of people die every year in the Aegean Sea in the southeastern Mediterranean while trying to cross into Greece from Turkey towards northern Europe, according to the United Nations and non-governmental organizations.
