The vocational school in Erding said goodbye to 25 new geriatric nurses.

That was the end of an era.

All already have a permanent position.

Erding – There was a historic farewell at the Erding vocational school for geriatric care.

For the last time, a graduating class was released into the professional world after successfully completing the three-year training course.

The general approach creates a completely new job profile - and the name of the institution changes.

In the future it will be called the Vocational School for Nursing.

From now on, the school offers combined training in the areas of nursing, nursing children and nursing the elderly.

School and class leader Michael Nauen emphasized: "This is the end of an era." The final year was very special: "The great team spirit under the most difficult circumstances stood out." As a class teacher, he had never had it so easy: "They regulated everything among themselves and gave each other excellent support.” That's why everyone deserved the team Oscar for the best class cohesion in the 20-year era of the vocational school for geriatric care, says Nauen.

27 vocational students from eleven nations took part in the final exams, 25 mastered them.

A remarkable achievement for Nauen.

In addition to the corona-related obstacles during the training, the new geriatric nurses would also have had to deal with many crisis situations: “Physical stress such as wearing FFP2 masks was added.”

The school principal also thanked the district.

Referring to Deputy District Administrator Franz Hofstetter, he said: "You always show your appreciation for our school."

Renate Hilburger-Kirlum from the Munich Sisterhood of the Bavarian Red Cross - the school's sponsor - summarized what the new geriatric nurses have achieved in three years of training.

2100 hours of theory and more than 2500 hours of practice were on the program: "I would like to emphasize your extraordinary social skills, which you have proven in many ways during the difficult times."

Many fulfilling and enriching professional encounters would follow: "One particular challenge of the profession of geriatric care is its complexity," says Hilberger-Kirlum.

She appealed to the young professionals: "Don't be afraid to stand up for the recognition and appreciation of your profession."

Two of the successful graduates stood out: Angelika Froschauer finished with an overall grade of 1.0, Tomas Rodriguez Garcia managed 1.3.

Both were able to look forward to a state prize as a special recognition of their achievements.

In her speech, Froschauer looked back: "We have developed into a team in which everyone has found their place." The resulting friendships would enrich later life.

She praised the commitment of the teachers and trainers in practice: "They managed to ensure that we got the best out of all key qualifications." The farewell ceremony showed how good the relationship between teachers and students was.

For the first time, there were Oscars in recognition of the entire teaching staff, which conjured up a glow in everyone's eyes.

School is now a thing of the past for the 25 young women and men, but they need not worry about the future.

All have already found permanent employment, most of them in a senior center in the vicinity.

The graduates: Asia Aifa, Amina Agic, Gina Ionela Baiceanu, Haris Basic, Mohamed Bakhacha, Azra Cosickic, Alexander Ertl, Angelika Froschauer, Sabine Grundig, Bianca Haase, Jànos Hergeth, Viktoria Juhasz, Luca Karow, Nicole Leiteritz, Ankica Lindl, Nilufar Mamadjanova, Reyes Martines Chico, Rosa Ortega Romero, Beata Ovcarikova, Nicole Preisacher, Tomas Rodriguez Garcia, Leon Stefanie, Enrico Szczepaniak, Agnieszka Tymoszuk and Kanita Uzunovic.
