About 79,000 voters, who make up about 58% of Likud officials, voted today (Wednesday) in the primaries for the party list for the elections to the 25th Knesset.
Around party chairman Binyamin Netanyahu, who throughout the day urged the party officials to go out and vote, satisfied with the high turnout, which exceeded early expectations, which targeted 70,000 voters. According to the estimate, the high number of voters indicates a high turnout of the free voters, who do not belong to the commanders organized and weakens the power of the organized parties.
The turnout is exactly the same as in the previous primaries for the list in 2019, but the number of net voters is higher than in the previous primaries despite the identical turnout, due to the fact that the Likud voter list this time included many more active voters. The first results are expected during tonight, but due to the high number of votes, it is estimated that the final results will be received only tomorrow morning or afternoon.
Netanyahu worked throughout the day to increase the voter turnout in order to increase the share of free voters and reduce the power of senior Likud leaders such as Haim Katz, Israel Katz and David Bitan, who are involved in most of the deals. Likud estimates that there are 25-30,000 operatives in the deals and the organized commanders, which means close to 50,000 free functionaries showed up to vote. This is a particularly high ratio in favor of the free voters, and it may produce a dramatic change in the structure of the list.

According to a primaries poll published on Channel 14 and carried out by the Direct Falls company, the top five in Likud are Yariv Levin, Amir Ohana, Yoav Kish, David Amsalem and Yoav Galant.
According to the survey, Knesset members Haim Katz, David Bitan and Tzachi Hanegbi were not selected for a realistic seat.
In recent weeks, Netanyahu and his people have invested great efforts to influence and shape the contest map in the districts, out of fear that some of the new candidates who will be elected will not be loyal to him, but to other Likud officials, as well as out of fear that officials with a criminal record will be elected who will tarnish the Likud list.
In total, about 110 candidates are running in the primaries: 70 of them are on the national list, and 40 of them are new candidates running within the districts.
The Likud list has reserved places for the new candidates running in the districts, so inevitably some of the sitting MKs are expected to be kicked out of the list. According to the estimate, this is about a third of the Likud's current team. The battle is particularly tough among Likud women: currently there are eight Knesset members in office in the Knesset, who are competing for five seats reserved for women By guaranteeing representation in real places.
