A senior commander in the Iranian army said today (Wednesday) that they managed to prevent naval sabotage during the night, but the regime refused to provide details about the source of the attackers.
"The escort boats of the naval arm of Iran's armed forces, led by the destroyer Jamran, were immediately sent to the scene last night after receiving a request for help from an Iranian ship in the Red Sea and acted against the attacking boats," Admiral Mustafa Tajdini claimed this morning.
"Thanks to the effective presence and after heavy exchanges of fire, the attacking boats left," the official added.
However, he refrained from giving details about the identity of the attackers or about the vessel that was allegedly attacked.

In recent years, the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea have become a maritime arena of conflict between the Islamic Republic and the West, when the regime's naval arm carried out several raids on oil tankers of foreign countries, but at the same time mysterious attacks on Iranian tankers also occurred in response.
Mysterious fires have also been observed in Iran's port cities: in July of last year, seven ships caught fire in a major fire that occurred at the port of Bushehr, the country's second largest civilian port.
According to reports, the fire started in a shipyard near the main port facilities on the northern edge of the port city.
