Ouyang Yuyi and Lin Ziqiao, who are profoundly hearing impaired, achieved good results in the HKDSE exam.

The former will never forget the experience of being helped by various people in the process of growing up, and hopes to enter the medical laboratory department, and join the medical field in the future, from the role of the recipient to the helper; the latter has a special liking for the subject of geography and hopes to study Study Geography and use what you've learned to explore the world after you finish your studies.

Ouyang Yuyi was diagnosed with profound hearing impairment at the age of 7 months, and it was not until 11 months that she received government funding to wear hearing aids in both ears. Later, she started early training at the Hong Kong Deaf Welfare Promotion Association Suntech Child Care Centre to lay the foundation for future study. Base.

She graduated from Suntech Early Childhood Centre and entered mainstream primary school.

At the age of 8, Ouyang Yuyi's hearing suddenly deteriorated again, which affected her daily study and social interaction.

"I was so happy at the time. I couldn't hear what my friends said in the morning meeting, radio, and listening. I couldn't hear what my friends said.

The music class that requires high control over the voice is Ouyang Yuyi's nightmare: "I hate music halls. I need to listen to the prelude when I sing. I will be careful because I can't hear it."

Later, Ouyang Yuyi underwent left ear cochlear implant surgery in the same year, and only began to hear voices in the second month.

She said that many people think that after the operation, they can hear the sound immediately, but the fact is that it takes time to adapt and learn how to distinguish the meaning of the sound. The cochlear implant only helps to receive the sound.

"I didn't know what to do at the beginning, because I couldn't hear the sound after finishing it, but then I gradually heard things I haven't heard before, such as phone calls and TV sounds."

Six months after the cochlear implant was implanted, Ouyang Yuyi tried to call her mother for the first time: "I heard it all, and I began to find that there are different things." Ouyang Yuyi's mother added: "I received I was so happy, a miracle happened! In the past, when he said that the phone was only called, he would close the line after saying what he wanted to say, but 𠵱 family can communicate with each other.”

Ouyang Yuyi also gradually received more sounds through the cochlear implant, which improved her learning and communication with peers.

"Before the teacher went to class to tell jokes, and the whole class laughed, but I didn't know how to laugh, but 𠵱My family is clear in class and can help understand."

Ouyang Yuyi mentioned that in the process of growing up, she has always played the role of a beneficiary and received help from all parties, such as the doctor's continuous assistance to follow up on her hearing situation, the teacher's dedication to teaching knowledge, and the help of classmates when she was in class. Notes and the unlimited support of her parents made her grow up happily.

This made her hope to study medical laboratory science at university, hoping to give back to others in the same way as she was helped by others in the future: "As a hearing-impaired person, it is my responsibility to do this. I hope that through my ability, I can help the society. A lot of tolerance."

Another profoundly hearing impaired person, Lin Ziqiao, also conducted pre-school training at the Hong Kong Deaf Welfare Promotion Association Sung Tak Child Care Centre, laying the foundation for admission to mainstream schools.

Lin Ziqiao's parents were busy with work and were brought up by her grandmother. They also did their best to support Lin Ziqiao in all aspects. She was very grateful to her grandmother for her efforts, and the two had a good relationship.

At present, Lin Ziqiao has to wear hearing aids in both ears, but this has not stopped her love of geography.

Lin Ziqiao scored 22 points in the best 5 subjects in the HKDSE, and Geography even got 5 stars.

Although she failed in English, which prevented her from entering the university directly, she was not discouraged and hoped that after completing her studies, she would be able to use the knowledge she has learned to take field tests around the world to explore the world.

"If you don't compare yourself to others, even associate degrees and advanced diplomas can achieve your dreams."

Lin Ziqiao is also excited about life in the future, and hopes to participate in different extracurricular activities and try Shangzhuang to enjoy campus life.

Mrs. Huang and Mrs. Wu of the Deaf Welfare Centre are the teachers of Ouyang Yuyi and Lin Ziqiao when they were young. They are very happy that the two schools have achieved good results in the diploma examination.

They said the center will provide services to hearing-impaired children before the age of 6, with 1-to-6 groups and individual speech training.

Before the formal training, the teacher will first understand the listening level of each child, and provide help according to the situation, such as training the children's three major areas of pronunciation, language and language, so as to lay the foundation for them to enter mainstream schools.
