The majority of Hispanics surveyed by UnidosUS prefer Republicans to combat inflation and improve the economy, but believe that Democrats are more protective of their health and abortion. Border security and immigration reform are the least of their concerns.

60% of Latinos with the right to vote in the November legislative elections believe that the United States is moving in the wrong direction, according to a survey released this Wednesday by the civil organization UnidosUS.

Most respondents listed inflation as the top concern they expect candidates to face.

In addition to the increase in prices (which stopped in July after months with the highest records in four decades), the issues that matter most to Latinos, in order of priority, are crime and gun violence;

the job;

access to health;

and the right to abortion (an issue that stood out in this poll more than in previous years, after the Supreme Court annulled the constitutional protection of this reproductive health right in June).

A possible immigration reform and border security, as well as the coronavirus pandemic, were the issues that were given the least importance among the 14 who were consulted in the survey (including the environment, housing, corruption, social security, education and discrimination).

On job creation, 37% preferred Republicans, 29% Democrats, and 19% neither.

In health, 55% opted for the Democrats, 14% for the Republicans and 15% for neither.
