Water rescue services and DLRG have been deployed to Lake Starnberg several times in the past few days to help water sports enthusiasts.

In one case, a sailor could have done it too.

Tutzing

– In view of the holidays and summer weather, operations for water rescuers on Lake Starnberg are inevitable.

There were two earlier this week.

On Tuesday evening, two members of the Tutzinger water rescue service accidentally saw that a dinghy with two people had capsized near the station.

An 83-year-old man and Bub, 12, were struggling to get the boat back up when rescuers arrived in their boat.

"The two hypothermic people were given medical care by the water rescuers and the dinghy was set up again," said the BRK water rescue service.

However: Not every sailing colleague was very willing to help.

A sailor who drove past the capsized dinghy simply ignored them, the two capsized reported to the water rescue service.

"He could have at least asked questions when we waved and called to him," the lifeguard quoted the man as saying.

Luckily, indifference is not the rule on the lake: “This was an isolated case of a lack of willingness to help.

We are glad that a lot of water sports and passers-by on land don't follow this example," emphasized the chairman of the Tutzing water rescue service, Robert Lettenbauer.

Reporters should remain on site

On Monday, the Starnberg, Feldafing, Wolfratshausen and Ammerland water rescue services, the DLRG Pöcking-Starnberg and Seeshaupt as well as helicopters and ambulances were alerted because of a sinking boat between Garatshausen and Ammerland.

A young crew from the Tutzing water rescue service was first on site and towed the boat away, the occupants were unharmed.

The detector could not be reached, which made it difficult for the rescuers' workers, "because it is not always immediately certain that the people who have already gone ashore are also the ones they are looking for," explains Oliver Jauch, spokesman for the district water rescue service.

If the callers stayed where they were, they could show the rescuers where they saw the emergency.

In this way, unnecessary searches could be avoided.

The good work of the very young boat crew of the water rescue service should be emphasized, said the local group Tutzing.

Because the boatman got his license in the spring, parts of the boat crew were still in training a short time ago.

This confirms a very good training and cooperation at the Tutzing water rescue service as well as a friendly cooperation where you can rely on the colleagues.
