The project:

Renovation of a contractor's apartment in Be'er Ya'akov

Area:

125 square meters and 25 square meters of balcony

Residents:

couple + 2 children

Planning and design:

Shani Stavik, a niche studio

like many these days, shortly after Mittal purchased a new residential apartment with her husband from a contractor in Be'er Jacob, she began looking for an interior designer to help her turn the standard apartment into something that more accurately expresses the character and needs of her family.

Wandering through pages of interior designers on Facebook, she came across the designer Shani Stavik and, to her surprise, came across a familiar face - her childhood friend from Rishon Lezion, who now works in interior design.

Mittal fell in love with Stavik's projects and chose her to design her new home.

She had one request: to incorporate the color pink, which she has loved so much since childhood, into the design of the house.

But her partner wasn't so sure that the predominance of the color pink was something he could relate to.

Therefore, one of Stavik's challenges in this project was to find a way to give expression and presence to the homeowner's favorite shade, in a way that would also be pleasing to the homeowner's eyes and taste.

The couple, who have two children, nevertheless agreed on most things: both connected to a modern, minimalist design, in black tones and a combination of wood, yet it was important to them that the house radiate warmth, comfort and even indulgence.

"My challenge was to combine the color pink so that it would not take over, but would give a design touch that would bring warmth into the house," says Stavik, who in the end was able to integrate it in almost all the spaces in the house - in the living room and the bedrooms.

The couple works from home intermittently, so it was also necessary to plan and design a workroom for them that would be functional and would be the perfect corner for working from home.

The planning work also included custom carpentry throughout the house - from the kitchen to storage solutions in the various spaces, with an emphasis on chic and style.

A lot of thought was also put into planning the lighting in all the spaces of the house.

Stavik chose to use magnetic lighting fixtures with a uniform appearance that connects the entire central space, and adds to the feeling of height and space in the apartment, partly also thanks to the lowered plaster in which recessed lighting has been incorporated that gives the feeling of a higher ceiling and a larger apartment.

For the dining area and the kitchen island, hanging lighting fixtures were chosen that come down from the ceiling, while in the bedrooms, designed ceiling fans were installed.

In the preliminary planning discussions for the renovation, the Bauzani Stavik couple emphasized their need for sufficient storage spaces in the apartment.

This is why a wall-to-wall closet was installed in the parents' bedroom, which includes quite a bit of space for storage.

Stavik also designed a make-up corner with hidden lighting inside the closet.

In addition to the large closet, there is also a white chest of drawers in the room that provides additional storage space, and in the hallway outside the room a closet was installed that is used to store linens and towels.

The owner of the apartment bakes quite a bit, so in the dining area a chic corner was planned and designed for her that includes a large storage space for her baking equipment.

In the laundry room, a closet was planned and designed that embraces the washing machine and dryer and also includes storage options.

unusual.

The couple wanted to design the living room, which is actually also the study, in an interesting and unusual way, so one wall was painted black. The closet chosen for the room is standard, but the surface from which the closet comes out, combined with the color on the wall, creates an interesting look.

The daughter chose pink, why not?

The design of the children's rooms is done in a relatively mature line, so that they can undergo adjustments when the children grow up.

A relatively "mature" design was chosen for the children's rooms, so that in the future it will easily be possible to make age adjustments with the help of accessories and the like.

Stavik gave the children a place in the planning process of their rooms and they participated in the selection of the wallpaper and the decision regarding the color shades for the walls of their room.

This is to give them a feeling that they are a part and connect them to the new home.

The girl asked for the room to be pink (because as the saying goes: oranges don't grow on an apple tree, etc.), so an antique pink shade was adapted for her, combined with light furniture that creates a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the room.

For the son's room, the color blue was chosen, and a table was designed for studying and gaming, and floating shelves were hung on the walls.

There are two bathrooms in the apartment: one in the parents' master suite and another which is a general bathroom that also functions as a guest bathroom and as a service area that includes the washing machine and dryer - for which Stavik designed a niche that closes with both beautiful and practical cabinets.

Stavik installed unusual barn doors in the two bathrooms: in the general bathroom, it was necessary to find a solution that would bring more light into the room, so Stavik chose to install a sliding door with glass in it, with the aim of bringing in natural light.

In the parents' bathroom, you will have a black barn door, which is both a design element and parallel to the black closet opposite, thus creating a complementary look.
