This is a wrong statement not only in the current context of the last round in Gaza, but also in the historical context and in understanding the essence of going to battle.
Wars have always been a political expression, because they were meant to serve political goals.
The famous saying of the military thinker Carl von Clausewitz: "War is nothing more than the continuation of policy with the addition of other measures."
And why settle for thinkers?
You can rely on the forces in the field: Napoleon Bonaparte, for example, did not fight for Josephine, but saw himself as spreading the message of the French Revolution;
Genghis Khan was also not satisfied with conquering territories, similar to Putin who did not invade Ukraine out of boredom - they sought to increase their political power alongside what they perceived as good for the country and the people.
Yair Lapid as a politician also wants to increase his political power.
Why shouldn't the politician, who suffers from the image of the model with the gel, the boxer, the reporter in "Mahana", try to improve his image?
Would it not be wise and required of someone who during the Blue and White era was the exception alongside Gantz, Ya'alon and Ashkenazi - to take advantage of the opportunity to show that he too can?
Anyone who claims that Lapid is a good politician must say that yes, there were also political considerations in the operation.
The current operation fell right into Lapid's hands, and it was foolish of him not to take advantage of it - for the benefit of the residents of the south, and also, obviously for anyone with a reasonable mind - for himself as well.
He probably didn't imagine that arresting a terrorist would lead to the threat of anti-tank missiles and a siege, but when it happened, why not try to score points?
Lapid himself admitted to political considerations, otherwise his office would not have released the photo of the meeting with Netanyahu: he has the serious expression of a prime minister, privy to the most secret details - updating the opposition leader. And not only Lapid admitted this: Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai said at Ila Hasson that in the government with Ra'am it was not possible to go on an operation.
Mansur Abbas said that "now, when the Knesset is scattered, our instruments of influence are weak in relation to the war."
If there are no political considerations, how miraculously did Lapid's bureau release to journalists a picture hugging Gantz that was accidentally taken on someone's cell phone before a briefing?
Lapid has no political considerations, he just likes people and cameras.
The statement that the launch of the operation is "without political consideration" is in itself political.
After years in which the leaders of the right were accused of lack of business in going into battle - the accusers reluctantly had to address the claim of political consideration (Haim Herzog said about the bombing of the reactor in Iraq in 1981: "There is something strange about the time that was chosen.
