As part of the implementation of the plan to preserve the element of the shadow theater “Karkoz and Iwaz” after its registration on the Urgent Safeguarding of the World Heritage List at UNESCO, the Syrian Trust for Development is continuing the third professional training after Damascus and As-Suwayda to target the youth of the city of Aleppo, where it announced the launch of an advanced training program to attract “mikaeleen” Renewed with the aim of training them on this authentic Syrian element.

Ammar Hassan from the Living Heritage Program in the Municipality said in a statement to SANA that the Syrian heritage and identity includes stories and details that must be passed on to future generations, including the Shadow Shadow Theater, explaining that the goal of the training program, titled “Shadow Shadow Theater as an Element of the Syrian Intangible Cultural Heritage,” is to preserve this. The ancient heritage and ensuring its continuity and preservation.

He pointed out that the Aleppo training comes within this framework and aims to train and empower approximately 20 trainees, aged between 20 and 50 years, on the basic materials of this element.

Regarding the content of the training program, Hasan pointed out that specialized professors were selected to support skills in the field of voice, acting and story-writing, in addition to training in creating characters, drawing them and transferring them to leather material... with the necessary decorations and colors to highlight the leather dolls and training in moving them with the skills necessary to match voice and emotion with the movement.

Regarding the mechanism of applying for this training program, which is set for a month, at a rate of five hours per day, starting next September, Hassan stated that the progress is made by filling out the subscription form electronically on the secretariat’s website. Shadow to select those who meet the admission criteria to join the training program.

As for the expected result of this training, it is according to the goodness of graduating about 20 male and female trainees who possess the skills of the shadow imagination and are able to present performances in front of the audience and revive the element of the shadow imagination in the city of Aleppo.

It is noteworthy that the result of the training in the governorates of Damascus and As-Suwayda was the training of 38 male and female trainees to possess the skills of the shadow theater, which enhances the presence of this element in the Syrian society.

The Syrian Trust for Development is an organization accredited by UNESCO since 2012 and is a member of the evaluation body for international heritage files nominated for inclusion on UNESCO’s lists of human heritage.
