Steif responds to Kharif: "Publishes materials that are prohibited from publication, and requests banning orders"

Today (Wednesday) a request for contempt of court was submitted to the District Court in Tel Aviv by Glatz Hadas Steif's crime reporter against former judge Etti Kharif as well as Steif's reference to Kharif's publication ban request.

Steif claims that on the one hand, Kharif is publishing materials that are prohibited from publication, and on the other hand, she is requesting banning orders.

As you may recall, a few weeks ago Kharif filed a tort claim against the journalist Hadas Steif, the Ministry of Defense, the police and other parties involved, demanding NIS 4 million in compensation.

Kharif is suing for the damages she claims she suffered "as a result of illegally taking Efi Neve's mobile devices, perusing his correspondence and transferring it to third parties and disclosing it to the public."

Kharif, who served as a judge at the Peace Court in Netanya, was a prime suspect in the "sex for an appointment" case for her relationship with the head of the Bar Association at the time, Efi Neve.

According to the suspicions, Kharif contacted Noah numerous times and asked for his help in the process of appointing her to the judiciary.

At the same time, the two deepened their intimate relationship, which included many phone calls and correspondence of an intimate nature, as well as another intimate meeting in the midst of the appointment process.

After Kharif's failure in the judging course, she begged Neve to promote her candidacy in the committee.

After an intimate meeting between Kharif and Noa, Noa intensively supported her candidacy, without revealing the intimate relationship between them to the members of the committee.

The case against her was closed, but she withdrew from the jurisdiction as part of the decision not to file an indictment against her for obstructing investigative procedures for deleting text messages.

In the application filed by Teif, she claims that Kharif herself violated the prohibition orders imposed on the investigation material in the "Sin and Appointments" case, when she filed a civil lawsuit that includes references to information and documents from the investigation file.

Kharif received the documents of the investigation file, as part of being suspected of criminal offenses and in preparation for the hearing held for her by the prosecutor's office before her prosecution.

According to the decision of the Magistrate's Court (Judge E. Masarwa), a publication ban was imposed on the documents of the investigation file.

An order that remains in force even today, after the case is closed.

According to Taif, despite the gag order, Kharif acted in violation of the law and filed a lawsuit along with documents prohibited from publication.

"After filing the lawsuit, which includes investigation materials and documents subject to a gag order, Kharif filed a request for new gag orders to be issued. Steif opposed this request and claimed that no new orders should be issued," the Steif request states.

Hadas Steif said: "I believe in the legal system in the State of Israel. The laws apply to everyone, including Ms. Kharif. It is not possible for Ms. Kharif to publicly sue me, slap me with unfounded harsh accusations, and then hide behind gag orders, trying to hide Her actions and actions are out of the public eye. Justice should not only be done but also seen. Kharif must decide if she files a lawsuit, which will give up the banning orders that were given in the past and not ask for new ones."
