Wolfratshausen - At the most recent district conference, the SPD district association passed a resolution denouncing the construction delay of the planned S-Bahn extension.
"We have to resolutely push ahead with the extension of the S7 to Geretsried," demanded district chairman Klaus Barthel.
He cannot understand the delays in the start of construction recently announced by Bavarian Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter (CSU).
Because the need for action to expand rail has increased enormously in view of climate change and further population growth in the region.
From alternative
The district association does not think much of suggestions such as the cable car variant suggested by Heinz Wensauer.
A resolution adopted at the district conference states: "There is no reason for new fundamental debates about the sense and nonsense of the project and possible alternatives - all of which have already been examined".
Display schedules and work steps transparently
According to the SPD, the explosion in costs and the associated delay in the construction of the second trunk line do not change “the need to expand the S-Bahn in the region”.
The district association therefore calls on the Free State, in its capacity as the client, to make the implementation of the schedules and work steps transparent to the public with ongoing controlling, so that any delays can be identified immediately and not only a year later.
The SPD is hoping for help from the federal government, which has to provide Deutsche Bahn, the federal states and the municipalities with sufficient financial resources for the expansion of public transport.
Resigned mood in the population
Wolfratshausen SPD member Hans Gärtner is already noticing a resigned mood among the population.
"More and more citizens doubt that an S-Bahn will ever go to Geretsried," he stated.
He fears that the current statement by the government of Upper Bavaria and an examination by the Federal Railway Authority could again result in tectures on the current route planning and thus lead to further delays.

Member of the Bundestag and district association support officer Sebastian Roloff promised to make the resolution public at state and federal level.
In the discussion with the comrades, he defended the delivery of arms to the Ukraine, which was not uncontroversial even within the SPD, and announced further financial relief packages for German citizens.
"We can't save our way out of the crisis," explained the 39-year-old.
There was no need for discussion in the quickly completed by-elections.
Holger Hohmann, deputy chairman of the Wolfratshausen SPD, replaces Peter Fasching on the board.
