The Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom has been summoned to the Foreign Office about Beijing's "
aggressive and far-reaching escalation
" against Taiwan, British diplomacy said on Wednesday August 10.
British Foreign Minister Liz Truss said Ambassador Zheng Zeguang had been asked to explain China's extensive military drills around the island in recent days, in response to US number three Nancy's visit to Taipei Pelosi.

I have asked officials to summon the Chinese ambassador to explain his country's actions
," Ms Truss, also a favorite to succeed resigning Prime Minister Boris Johnson in September, said in a statement.

We have seen increasingly aggressive behavior and rhetoric from Beijing in recent months, which threaten peace and stability in the region
,” she added.
“
The United Kingdom urges China to resolve any dispute by peaceful means, without threat or use of force or coercion
,” pleaded the head of diplomacy.
The stay of Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi was seen by Beijing as a provocation, the United States having pledged to have no official relationship with the island territory claimed by China.
Beijing's communist army has conducted its largest-ever military exercises around Taiwan in recent days.
In particular, she trained in a blockade of the island with planes, ships and ballistic missile fire.
