Herrsching - As every year, the tournament for the Ammersee Tennis Cup (ATP) took place on the first weekend of the summer holidays.

The TC Herrsching as the organizer was able to welcome top-class tennis players from all over Germany among the participants in all age groups held - women 40 and 60 and men 40, 50 and 60.

In the men's 60 class, so many good players had registered that even German ranked players from the list of substitutes didn't get a chance.

The participants had traveled from Stade, Hamburg, Dresden, Berlin, etc. "We combine that with a few days' vacation in beautiful Bavaria," said many players.

"We are very proud to be able to host such a high-level tournament in the DTB category S-2 as a relatively small club," said tournament director Michael Zesewitz.

For the first time, the castle garden festival took place in the Herrschinger Kurpark, so that in addition to the sporting achievements, a great supporting program was offered for everyone.

A special highlight was the first sponsorship by the Herrschinger Brauhaus.

With the best tennis weather and thanks to the perfect organization of the well-established team, all matches went off without a hitch.

On the one hand, this was thanks to the referees Lukas Eylert, Julian Morgenroth and Gerrit Hermann, and on the other hand to the well-established team - Björn and Inge Johansson, Gunnar Oosterloo and club president Christian Becker had done a great job together with tournament boss Michael Zesewitz in the run-up.

Specially designated car parking spaces were available for the participants, and there were even rental bicycles for trips between the tennis courts on the two Herrschinger facilities.

In the women's 40 class, Sylvia Hahn from TC Schwaben-Augsburg, who was seeded No. 1, impressed the spectators with top tennis.

She came through all matches effortlessly and completely unchallenged - even against the Bavarian Vice Champion (women 30), Liselot Prechtel, she only lost one game (6:0, 6:1).

Even the final opponent Ines Polis from SC Rießersee, who marched through unchallenged until then, fared no better (6:0, 6:1).

The Bavarian champion Ursula Geiger fully lived up to her role as favorite in the women's 60s.

In the final she beat number three of the tournament, Annette Kurth from TSV Schäftlarn, 6:1, 6:1.

Claudia Elbs from TCH reached the quarter-finals and lost to Ingrid Dangl from TC Bad Endorf in the Champions Tie-Break.

In the men's 40 discipline, Markus Brey from TCH only won one match.

He didn't have much of a chance against his former training colleague Florian Sieper from TC Neukeferloh.

"I could have played a few more games, but it wouldn't have been enough to win," said Brey.

Sieper, the 2021 tournament winner, was there to defend his title.

After tough games in the preliminary rounds, however, he lacked the strength in the final.

He was no longer able to successfully defend himself against unseeded Sven Ludwig (TC Schwaben Augsburg) - he deservedly won 6:2, 6:2.

In the final of the men's 50, two club colleagues faced each other, both of whom serve seven at the TC Augsburg.

Uli Bengeser, seeded 2nd, finally prevailed.

The favorite and 1st seed Michael Austen won against the No. 3 Frank Unterrainer from TC Weilheim after a hard fight in the semifinals with 6:4, 2:6 and 10:8.

In the final Michael Austen had to admit defeat, Uli Bengeser won 6:2, 7:6.

Roland Bader from TC Seefeld was eliminated in the men's 60s in the first round, he was very narrowly defeated in the Champions tie-break by Peter Simkovic from TSV Altenfurt.

As in the previous year, Michael Appleton from Stader TC was successful in this competition. At a young age he was even able to win Wimbledon as a professional.

To the chagrin of the spectators, the final had to be ended with a score of 2:0 in the first set because Karl Berger (STK Garching), who was second seeded, had to retire due to injury.

President Christian Becker was very happy about the smooth running of the tournament, he presented trophies, certificates and prize money to the winners and finalists.
