The Central Council of the International Federation of Arab Trade Unions affirmed its support for Syria and its consistent and principled patriotic and national positions in its efforts to combat terrorism and preserve its national sovereignty and the unity of its people, lands and rights.

In the final statement of its second regular session, which was held in the Sahara Complex in Damascus with the participation of 12 Arab countries, the Council condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on the Syrian people, especially the bombing of Damascus International Airport and several Syrian facilities, and its continued occupation of the Syrian Golan.

The Council affirmed its commitment to the path of the national and legitimate struggle of the Palestinian Arab people, supporting its cause for liberation from the brutal Israeli occupation, and standing by its side in the daily confrontations that occur on the Arab land of Palestine, once again rejecting normalization with the Zionist entity in all its forms.

The statement called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to work to release Palestinian and Arab prisoners and detainees in the prisons of the Zionist occupation, stop building settlements, remove the apartheid wall, and stop all actions to change the demographic and geography of the occupied city of Jerusalem.

He called for exposing the racist practices of the Zionist occupation forces and their violation of human rights and the attempt to impose Zionist law on the Syrian Arab citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan and the Turkish attacks on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.

The Council also stressed the need to stand and support brotherly Yemen to enhance its sovereignty over its lands and consolidate its national unity, and called on the political parties to give priority to the language of dialogue to solve outstanding problems, calling on the international community, the League of Arab States and its specialized organizations, the United Nations and all its bodies and international organizations concerned to expedite the provision of the necessary international aid “food and medicine” For the Yemeni people to save them from the specter of hunger and disease and to contribute to providing the elements of security and political stability to contribute to the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the war.

The Council affirmed its support for the components of the Libyan people in the fight against terrorism, calling on the political parties in Libya to resort to a comprehensive national dialogue to achieve national reconciliation and agreement on building the modern Libyan state.

At the same time, he called on the Lebanese parties to strengthen dialogue among themselves, away from the political disputes of internal consensus, in a way that secures Lebanon's unity and territorial integrity, building its state, enhancing its security and stabilizing its sovereignty, and supporting Lebanon's right to restore its occupied lands.

The Council called on Arab governments and union, popular and professional organizations to support Lebanon and provide all elements of steadfastness to the workers and people of Lebanon, materially and morally, to lift the unjust siege imposed on it, and to support and support the workers and people of Iraq, condemning terrorist practices and operations in most Iraqi cities and stressing the need to strengthen the unity of the Iraqi labor movement.

The Council stressed the need to work with international and Arab bodies to demand the lifting of all kinds of unjust sieges against Arab countries at various levels, especially the unjust Caesar Law, and to contribute to working to facilitate the return of displaced Syrians to their homes and to support the position of Arab countries regarding Arab water security, especially on the international scene. With regard to the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which threatens Egyptian water security, and the Turkish Ilisu Dam, which threatens Iraqi water security.

The Central Council of the International Federation of Arab Trade Unions directed its sincere thanks and gratitude to the General Federation of Trade Unions in the Syrian Arab Republic for the good reception, the warm welcome and the good preparation for the success of the work of the Council, wishing the Federation continued success and achieving the aspirations of the workers’ brotherhood in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The participants in the council's second session stressed the need to create a protocol for exchanging union services in all sectors in the Arab countries and to produce solutions to the problems of Arab workers.

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Trade Union of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ashraf Al-Dokar, pointed out in his intervention the importance of finding solutions to all pressing labor issues and providing the appropriate ground for joint union action to protect workers' rights in light of the difficult changes facing Arab workers.

For his part, the head of the General Labor Confederation in Lebanon, Bechara Al-Asmar, stressed the need to open the door to dialogue with all Arab trade unions in order to reach radical solutions to labor problems, while the Secretary-General of Trade Unions in Palestine, Abdel Qader Hassan Abdullah, called on the International Labor Organization and donor countries to remove restrictions imposed on workers. The Palestinians, opening the labor market to them, establishing economic projects in the Palestinian territories to reduce unemployment and poverty, and to strengthen the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in facing the practices of the Israeli occupation and condemning terrorism in all its forms against Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.

And from Sudan, the Secretary-General of the Arab Federation of Health Workers, Sir El-Khatim, Abdel Qader Mohamed, suggested holding a special solidarity session to face all the challenges facing the Arab working class and find solutions that face Sudanese workers, while the Secretary-General of the Arab Union for Spinning, Weaving and Garment Industry Workers in Egypt, Abdel Fattah Ibrahim Mohamed, noted the steadfastness of Syrian workers in the face of the terrorist war that destroyed all workers' gains and facilities.

The head of the General Federation of Yemeni Trade Unions, Ali Ahmed Bamahisoun, demanded that no door be opened that perpetuates union division in any Arab country, and that unions should be a catalyst for building and development, and that the opportunity to join the union should be given to Qatari trade union organizations that did not have any union representation before, while the Secretary-General demanded The Arab Union for Education, Printing and Media Workers, Magdy Mustafa Hassan, in Egypt imposes a penalty on anyone who rushes to normalize with the Zionist entity.

The head of trade unions in Jordan, Azzam Salim Al-Smadi, I hope that Jordan's membership in the Central Council will be an umbrella for all the workforce in Jordan in order to preserve their issues.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a number of reports related to the activities of the Federation and the General Secretariat and the Secretariat's plans for the year 2022-2023 were approved.
