The huge plume of black smoke rises above the pines already scorched and charred by the fires of mid-July around Landiras, in Gironde.
The banners of support for the firefighters, displayed on the fences of the gardens, did not have time to be unhooked.
The fire was under control by the end of July, but the dreaded scenario occurred.
Since Tuesday afternoon, firefighters have been dealing with a resumption of fire in the Hostens and Saint-Magne sectors: in less than 24 hours, 6,200 hectares burned and 10,000 people evacuated.
In July, nearly 14,000 hectares had already gone up in smoke in this area.
No casualties were reported ;
17 houses were destroyed by the flames between Tuesday and Wednesday in Belin-Béliet.
Nearly 1,000 firefighters, 9 planes and 2 water bomber helicopters were mobilized on Wednesday to fight the flames.
