Great joy at the Eyrain-Jedling Trachtenverein: the Groußstoana celebrate their 100th anniversary.

In addition, they present themselves with a new flag - and an extensive program of celebrations.

Eyrain/Jedling

– Someone else should say that history does not repeat itself.

Exactly 100 years ago, the 32 founding members of the Groußstoana Eyrain-Jedling traditional costume association wanted to buy a flag.

"A difficult undertaking because of the general currency devaluation," says the chronicle.

A begging letter to the farmers in the area was ultimately successful.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Groußstoana, which incidentally also accepted “women as full members” from the start, wanted to treat themselves to a new flag again.

And again at a time when inflation is picking up speed.

With donations for the new flag consecration

However, this time the financial situation was not as dramatic as it was in 1922, says Chairman Josef Summerer.

Thanks to many donations, it was possible to order the new flag from Jaeschke Embroidery in the Traunstein district.

One side traditionally adorns the "big stoa", the other shows for the first time the Josefs-Kapelle with Mariengrotte in Eyrain, who built the Groußstoana in 2009 with their own efforts and with numerous donations.

"This has now become our second landmark," reports Summerer proudly.

Saint Joseph, as the patron saint of craftsmen and families, fits in well with the membership structure of the traditional costume association.

In the case of the two previous flags, Saint George took this place, explains the chairman.

He was the patron saint of the boys' association founded in 1908,

from which the Groußstoana emerged in 1922.

In order not to forget the past, the old, now restored flags will of course also be honored.

Another source of income for financing the new flag, which will cost between 10,000 and 15,000 euros, is to be the raffle as part of the anniversary.

In addition, a lucky port equipped with 1000 prizes is parked on the festival site in Grub.

Anyone who pulls a blank should not immediately throw it in the wastebasket.

At the end of the festive season on Monday, August 15, there's a second chance, including a whole "Faggä".

Extensive festival program

The kick-off will be on Friday, August 12, from 7 p.m. with the prize platters of the Leitzachtal district group to the sounds of the Niklasreuth brass band.

On Saturday, August 13th, the focus will be on the boulder from Steinwies (see box), which gives the Groußstoana its name, on the 2010 state road just behind the district border of Rosenheim.

At 6.45 p.m. the commemoration of the dead of the traditional costume association takes place here.

Back in the marquee, from 8 p.m., the honoring of long-standing members and an extensive musical program await, moderated by Anian Klingsbögl.

After what must have been a short night, the cannon salutes on Sunday, August 14 at 6 a.m. will ring in the main act of the anniversary.

At 9 a.m., the church procession takes the associated associations to the Josefs chapel, which was consecrated on August 12, 2012 by Bishop Wolfgang Bischof.

Almost ten years to the day later, Dean Michael Mannhardt will inaugurate the new club flag of the Groußstoana before the day ends in the tent at the wine festival with the Oberland Express.

However, the anniversary itself extends into the Assumption Day on August 15th.

After the meatball dinner from 6.30 p.m. comes the last highlight of the extensive program: from 9.30 p.m. the three brass bands Niklasreuth, Au and Irschenberg will perform in the community choir.

In addition, the Niklasreuther Goaßlschnalzer let it rip.

Incidentally, history is repeating itself here a bit.

The club's chronicle says that there was a "contemplative festival" with the Niklasreuth brass band at the first flag consecration in 1922 "despite the deteriorating economic situation".

The price for the music: inflationary four million Reichsmarks.
