A husband from the southern region claimed as part of a divorce proceeding from his wife that he earns only 6,000 shekels each month.

"I earn a little above the minimum wage, so I can pay high alimony to my children," claimed the husband.

The court accepted his claim and awarded him low temporary child support, amounting to NIS 700 per child.

But his wife, who lived with him and knew that he was earning much higher sums, did not give up and ordered a private investigation against him.

"As part of the investigation, we were able to prove that in his job as a contractor, the husband earns 40-50 thousand shekels every month," says private investigator Uri Yaakov, who accompanied the woman.

Following the findings of the investigation, the husband is expected to pay much higher alimony.

"There is no doubt that following what we found out, the amount of alimony he will pay will jump to thousands of shekels. The court will have no other choice."

The husband presented low pay stubs

The couple from the southern region, in their 40s, married at a young age and were married for 15 years.

But then arguments started between them and the relationship between the two hit a snag.

The husband began to speak rudely to his wife and humiliated her.

In retrospect, as emerged from the private investigation, he also had an affair.

After the couple decided to divorce, the husband argued before the court that he earns little, so he is unable to pay high alimony to his children.

"The husband claimed that he had almost no job and presented to the court payslips of only NIS 6,000," says Yaakov who began tracking down the husband.

"I took his details from the woman and started following him," he says.

"The couple lived in a small settlement where, due to the small number of residents, it is difficult to carry out investigations. The road leading to their house is empty, maybe a car or two passes by every few minutes, and it is difficult for an investigator to carry out surveillance in such a situation."

The investigation revealed: the husband works from morning to evening

according to Yaakov, he waited patiently for the right opportunity.

"One day the children were sleeping with the husband and he arranged with his wife to return them home in the morning. At 6:30 in the morning we waited for him to arrive with the children, and after he dropped them off we saw that he was going to pick up his employees."

The investigation revealed that the husband had a tight schedule.

"He and his employees moved between settlements and worked from morning to evening. We documented everything and came to the conclusion that each day of his work as a contractor is worth between 4,000 and 6,000 shekels and that in total he earns 40-50 thousand shekels a month, much more than he tried to claim."

According to Jacob, the woman now has a very strong card in her hands, and with the help of the evidence collected for her, she will be able to receive a significant share of the joint assets she has accumulated with her husband and demand that he pay much higher alimony.

"The false testimony given by the husband in court regarding his earning capacity could complicate him, beyond the alimony he will pay, which is expected to reach thousands of shekels a month."

In the bottom line, Jacob concludes: "Those who get divorced and try to hide their true income from their spouses should understand that in the end they will be caught and forced to pay more. Anyone who suspects that their spouse is trying to hide income from him or smuggle assets must contact a private investigator."
