The Ministry of Culture announces the conditions for affiliation to the Higher Institute of Cinematic Arts

The Ministry of Culture announced the opening of accepting applications for participation in the competitions for affiliation with the Higher Institute of Cinematic Arts for the academic year 2022-2023 in each of the specializations “Film Direction” and “Scenario and Film Criticism”.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Culture, SANA received a copy of it. Receipt of applications starts from the 21st of August until the 5th of September at the Diwan of the Higher Institute of Cinematic Arts located in Damascus, Umayyad Square, Shukri Al-Quwatli Street.

The statement included the conditions that must be met in each of the two specializations, as the applicant for admission to the Film Direction Department must have a high school diploma in one of its branches, “literary or scientific,” and be no more than 23 years old.

As for the specialization of script and film criticism, he should not be more than 23 years old and should have a high school diploma in one of its branches “scientific or literary” or a literature certificate in “languages-history-philosophy” and humanities and media, and his mark in the Arabic language should not be less than 60%.

The statement set the date for the written test, which the applicant undergoes to learn about his cinematic and general culture, on Sunday the 11th of next September.

Law No. 6 of 2021 was issued last February to establish the Higher Institute of Cinematic Arts with the aim of graduating specialists in cinematic arts, training and qualification in various fields of cinematic art in order to achieve an artistic renaissance in these fields.

The following academic degrees are awarded in accordance with the provisions specified in the institute’s bylaws: “Bachelor of Cinematic Arts, Diploma of Qualification and Specialization in Cinematic Arts, and Master of Qualification and Specialization in Cinematic Arts.”
