The governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, described this Tuesday as "a hard and painful night" in that state of western Mexico, due to the burning of vehicles and convenience stores, after a confrontation, he said, between federal forces and members of organized crime in the municipality of Ixtlahuacán del Río.
Alfaro specified that there were 13 vehicles set on fire, including three public transport units, one for distribution of soft drinks and nine individuals, as well as a convenience store that was also set on fire.
He added that there are five people detained and one killed.

According to the governor, organized crime groups tried to block the city's exits to prevent police reinforcements from arriving.
In his morning press conference this Wednesday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador explained that not only Jalisco suffered the onslaught of violence, but also the neighboring state of Guanajuato.
The president explained that the acts of vandalism occurred because the police authorities interrupted a meeting between two organized crime gangs.
"There are already detainees in both Jalisco and Guanajuato of those who were at the meeting," he added.
