A residential project for senior citizens is firmly planned in Gmund.

A district manager should take care of the needs of the people there.

At a meeting it was now collected what is expected of this.

Gmund

- Despite the beautiful weather, around 30 people from Gmund came together for the second workshop in the series "Getting older in Gmund am Tegernsee" in the Neureuther Saal.

While the residential project “Housing for the Elderly” was the subject of discussion in September, this time it was about what the people of Gmund expect from a district manager, i.e. the caretaker who is part of the housing project.

Mayor Alfons Besel gave a brief overview of the progress of the "Getting older in Gmund" project.

"We've been working on the program for a while now.

The issue of 'livable aging' is very important to the council,” he says.

In the meantime, it has been decided to realize the residential project in Hirschbergstraße with around 30 residential units and the possibility of assisted living.

Besel spoke of a period of "up to two years".

New district manager wanted: He should be the contact person for all senior citizens

The community should be responsible.

It is also clear that a so-called district manager should be deployed there.

The municipality envisages a well-connected social worker who takes care of the concerns of the residents of the housing project and is the contact person for all other seniors in the community.

"A contact person and a string puller who shapes the work with seniors more," specified Anja Preuss from the working group for social planning and age research GmbH, which accompanies and advises the community on their project.

She hoped that the group - all best agers, boomers and local councilors from these same age groups - could work out a job profile.

That's why she asked the group: "What do you want in ten and in 20 years?

What are your claims?

Then what do you need to live?

What do caregiving relatives need?” For an hour and a half, information was collected and categorized.

In addition to concrete wishes such as a mini golf course by the lake and a zebra crossing across the main road, the following picture appeared on the pinboard: The people of Gmund want social cohesion and therefore cross-generational offers.

They wanted an active group for community activities inside and outside the housing project.

This requires a common room with a kitchen.

Also desired: Mobility offers such as car sharing, educational and cultural offers as well as low-threshold and easily accessible advice offers, where you can get support and care if you ever need it.

The idea was born that national advice centers would offer open consultation hours at fixed times in the housing project - with specific help for dealing with authorities and filling out forms.

Visiting services and sponsorships are just as popular as a regulars' table for caring relatives.

And seniors who own pets should not be forgotten either.

District manager for housing project: There is a subsidy from the state

Preuss summarized with a nod: "Our goal is not to develop parallel structures, but we are looking for a person who networks offers and creates synergies." They quickly become indispensable for the community's work with seniors," said Preuss, referring to the start-up funding for four years with which the Ministry of Social Affairs is promoting such caregivers.
