The Post has problems with the delivery in the district of Dachau.

She explains this with a high sick leave rate.

Hebertshausen – No mail in the mailbox?

For most citizens, there is probably no reason to ponder at first.

But companies or authorities receive numerous shipments every day, so breakdowns in delivery are noticed immediately.

So also in the Hebertshausen town hall.

"We didn't get any mail for four days last week," complains the deputy mayor, Martin Gasteiger (FBB).

"We get a whole container of shipments every day, so of course it's immediately obvious if we don't get a delivery." This disruption is definitely a problem for the administration, after all, deadlines could also be delayed.

Not only Hebertshausen is affected by the delivery problems

But not only the municipal administration is affected, citizens have also reported.

"Whole blocks of streets don't get any delivery." Gasteiger has also heard complaints from district residents from other communities.

When asked by the local newspaper, Deutsche Post confirmed the problems.

"Unfortunately, delivery in the said region is currently not of the quality that our customers are used to," said press spokesman Klaus-Dieter Nawrath.

In fact, the disruption is not limited to Hebertshausen.

"The general situation described applies to the Dachau region," admits the spokesman.

The reason is “a significantly increased sick leave” due to the current wave of corona infections.

And in Hebertshausen there was also a “technical problem”, which has been resolved.

In principle, delays should only be one day

There is forward-looking emergency and pandemic planning, but it cannot completely prevent delays in individual regions.

In principle, Swiss Post tries “to ensure that the delays are a maximum of one day”.

Which in any case didn't quite work out in Hebertshausen.

Affected customers ask Nawrath for their understanding, "we apologize for the inconvenience".

In the town hall, Martin Gasteiger was finally able to get in touch with the delivery center in Dachau via the Federal Network Agency.

And received the promise from there that the town hall will be supplied again from this Monday.

The press office of Deutsche Post also promises to deliver all shipments as quickly as possible.

"We are working flat out on it," said spokesman Nawrath.

But Martin Gasteiger has also lodged a complaint with the Federal Network Agency.

Because Swiss Post has undertaken to deliver mail every day from Monday to Saturday.

This is regulated in the so-called Post Universal Service Ordinance.

But this set of rules is apparently a toothless tiger.

Because, as Nadia Affani from the Federal Network Agency reports on request, postal law “does not provide for any formal sanctions for temporary or regional quality defects”.

However, one has "a constant eye on the basic supply of postal services".
