After arson attack on the homeless: Munich police are chasing the perpetrators, readers donate to Andi (50)

The homeless man Andi (50) lost everything in the arson attack on his camp at the Münchner Freiheit.
But since our report, dozens of readers have come forward to help.
Now Andi could buy clothes and equipment.
Munich – New hope for the homeless Andi (50)!
When strangers set fire to his camp at the Münchner Freiheit, he lost almost all of his possessions.
According to our report, the editors received offers of help every day: dozens of readers donated for Andi.
His fate touches Munich!
"I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for every single donation," says Andi
.
He could now use the money to buy new clothes and equipment.
"It's a great feeling," said the 50-year-old with a smile.
"I'm really touched by so much support."
Andi has been living on the streets for half a year and had set up camp at the Münchner Freiheit.
There he almost fell victim to a crime last week: Previously unknown men had set Andi's things on fire at night (tz reported).
"Fortunately, I slept a few meters away during the night," says Andi, who was unharmed.
But most of his belongings are burned.
The police are still looking for the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, Andi can look ahead: "I'm so grateful for my new things," he says.
He is supported by his girlfriend Marion (63): "Andi is such a lover, he has a big heart," she says.
"Even in his difficult situation, he always tries to help other people."

That's what he got back: since last week, our editorial team has received mail from readers offering help almost every day.
Among them Helga Lanvermann (51), who says: "Nobody deserves to have their belongings taken away from them in this way.
You have to support the people on your doorstep.
I live in Feldmoching, Andi comes from Hasenbergl."
There he once learned to be a butcher, worked in the catering trade and in the army.
Now the Munich resident collects bottles to make ends meet in everyday life.
Andi doesn't want to go to accommodation for the homeless.
"I've had some very bad experiences there," he says.
"I need my freedom now."
