When cross-examined by the defense, Chen admitted that when he was arrested at the massage parlor on March 19, 2021, he walked into other rooms of the massage parlor to check, and found a man and a woman in "room 7", including a man surnamed Cai. At the time, Chen said, he was "not 100% sure" of the officer's identity and only recognized that he had seen him on news footage and the police's website.
Cai's ID card was not checked and the incident was not recorded
Under cross-examination, Chen admitted that he knew that the other party was the director of the National Security Department at the time, and he did not ask "Mr. Cai" or check his ID card, nor did he record the incident in the diary, because he believed that the incident had nothing to do with the investigation, and that he and Cai had nothing to do with it. The contact was also very short-lived, but the case supervisor was immediately notified and handed over to the superior for handling.
Defense accuses Cai Zeng of shouting but Chen denies it
The defense lawyer pointed out that when Chen knocked on the door of Room 7 that day, someone opened the door a few minutes later. There was a masseuse in the room, but Cai closed the door immediately. After a few minutes, someone knocked on the door and Cai left. , Cai expressed anger and yelled at the police.
Chen denied the claim, saying that someone opened the door soon after the knock, and "Mr. Cai" also appeared calm.
The four defendants: masseuse Li Yiqing (36 years old), unemployed woman Yuan Qiuxiang (34 years old, Vietnamese), masseuse Zhang Mingfang (35 years old), and unemployed man Hu Bingxiong (61 years old).
The three female defendants were each charged with one count of managing a prostitution establishment, namely VIET SPA on the 1st floor of Shengyi Building on Johnston Road, Wanchai; Lee and Yuen were also charged with one count of managing a massage parlor without a valid license; the only male defendant, Wu Bingxiong, was charged with Operating a prostitution establishment at the same location during the same period, and operating a massage parlor without a valid operating license.
