Even though the shell is now complete, construction of the fire station on Hochfeldstrasse is three to four months behind.

The fact that no offers are received in the town hall for individual tenders is also a cause for concern.

The city council now has the latest information.

Tegernsee – The experts at the Stuttgart project management company Drees & Sommer always present their quarterly report on the fire station every quarter.

At the most recent city council meeting, the report by Bettina Koch, head of the building department, dated June 30th, was explained.

It made it clear how difficult the current situation in the construction industry is and how stressful it is for the Tegernsee mega-project.

Tegernsee fire station: Schedule is three to four months behind

For example, the carpentry work had to be advertised for the second time because no offers were received in the first round.

"And this time the result was zero," Bettina Koch had to say.

She also reported that at the current meeting, carpentry work for the upper floor and orders for exterior woodwork should have been awarded.

“But no offers have been received here either.” According to Koch, companies will now be contacted in a targeted manner.

The construction project is currently three to four months behind.

"That's why we also have quite a need for discussion with the subsequent trades," says Koch.

Not all companies would respond with understanding.

Nevertheless, this month the shell of the building should be completely finished.

The majority of the next work is also assigned, 16 percent are still open.

Further tenders, for example for the outdoor facilities, would be launched these days.

Contract award for the fire station "really exhausting"

Koch also passed on the report of the project controllers with regard to the costs.

So you are currently at a spending level of 16 million euros.

The fact that the costs are now higher than the sums initially forecast was accepted by the city council without further discussion.

As a reminder: In a feasibility study, there was initially talk of 6.2 million euros, then the sum galloped towards 12.5 million euros in 2020 and to a “forecast” of 15.2 million euros in November 2021. The head of the building department nevertheless noted : "We have to see where the demands are going." Companies would regularly screw up their sums, with reference to the increase in construction costs, transport difficulties and the Ukraine war.

A number of building materials would also no longer be produced at all because of the energy prices.

"It's really exhausting"

commented Koch on the report.

It also became clear that the city would probably have to reckon with a further increase in the price of the project.

"At the moment," says Koch, "everything is reading coffee grounds." Mayor Johannes Hagn (CSU) commented on the report: "We take note of that."

Another decision for the fire station: the balcony railings

During the meeting, the city councilors had to make further decisions: On the one hand, the appearance of the balcony railings in front of the apartments.

Architect Claudia Schreiber presented the possible variants.

A majority warmed to a variant with classic, straight, galvanized metal rods.

According to the writer, a railing made of wood, which Rudolf Gritsch (CSU) would have liked to see, was not feasible due to various regulations and also for reasons of exposure.

It was also decided by a majority that the required delimiting retaining wall on Queen Caroline Way with a length of almost 23 meters should have a base and a fall-proof railing.

This also corresponds to the wishes of the fire brigade.
