The municipality of Poing intends to complete the pump track facility before the end of this year.

Due to “unforeseen imponderables”, the schedule has been delayed, the town hall informs.

Poing – If everything goes according to plan, the pump track facility should be completed by the end of the year.

The cycle route will be realized on the area between the building yard/fairground and the railway embankment, where a tennis court will also be built.

As Mayor Thomas Stark and City Hall manager Muriel Brodbeck informed our newspaper on request, the plans are in the final stages.

The ideas of the young people via the local app PlaceM and the initiators of the petition for the pump track were incorporated.

The circular course specially created for mountain bikes with ups and downs will be around 1000 square meters in size, which is roughly the size of four tennis courts.

A real tennis court will also be built on the property - as an additional playing field for the Rot-Weiß Poing tennis club, which has its six-court facility right next to it.

As reported, the municipality of Poing has leased the area from Deutsche Bahn – initially for ten years.

The additional tennis court is being built a stone's throw away from the TC Rot-Weiss, due to the narrow property, exceptionally in an east-west orientation.

Tennis courts are usually oriented south-north.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

The tennis club expects costs of almost 64,000 euros for the construction of the new court.

The TC submitted a subsidy application to the municipality for this purpose, which the main and finance committee of the municipal council approved: The municipality of Poing is supporting the construction with 60,000 euros.

With this, the municipality wants to support mass sport and the work of the TC Rot-Weiss itself.

The association, which was founded in 1973, has around 550 members, up from 267 eight years ago.

According to chairman Jochen Bunzel, around half of the 550 members are children and young people, 190 of whom are in training.

Then there are the adult training sessions and teams – and of course the hobby players who also need space.

The pump track facility will be built to the east of the tennis court.

Both later than originally planned, Stark and Brodbeck announce: "due to unforeseen imponderables".

Specifically: archaeological soil investigations, and the soil may have to be replaced.

“We aim to complete completion by the end of the year.

This is mainly dependent on the companies and service providers (e.g. archaeologists, construction companies, Deutsche Bahn, etc.)," write the mayor and manager in an e-mail.

160,000 euros have been budgeted for the construction of the pump track system.
