EC Thanning celebrates its anniversary and honors Huber as honorary chairman

Thanning - "For the village community it is not at all decisive whether the association is 60 or 62 years old this year, what is important is that we can celebrate together again," emphasized Mayor Hubert Oberhauser in his welcoming address to the official 60 + 2 year anniversary celebration of the EC Thanning which took place recently.

51 interested young men came together in Gasthof Neuhauser in 1962 to launch the EC Thanning, 43 of them became members of the new association on the same evening.

Today the club has the departments ice hockey, football, in a syndicate with ascholding and the stock shooters.

Of the eleven founding members who are still alive, ten came to the 60th anniversary of the founding and received special recognition from the chairman, Hubert Seidl.

Only Alois Eisenmann had to cancel due to health reasons.

The head of the town hall praised the extraordinarily good youth work of one of the sports clubs with the largest membership in the large community.

The fact that the soccer game community (SG) is also doing an excellent job is proven by the fact "that the SG plays football a class higher than Egling."

Pageant of all Thanninger clubs

The birthday was celebrated with various tournaments throughout the weekend.

The sporting highlight was the football match between the Haching All-Stars and SG Ascholding/Thanning, which the guests won 5:3.

The game was moderated by Stefan Lehmann, BR radio and stadium spokesman for FC Bayern Munich.

The donations from around 200 spectators form the basis of the total donation from the birthday celebrations, which was collected for the Lebenshilfe of the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen.

After the commemorative mass by Pastor Manfred Wurzer, all the Thanninger clubs took part in a procession back to the club house on the sports grounds, where the other celebrations were held.

In his short speech, Seidl recalled the highlights of EC Thanning's recent history, such as the construction of the club's own home.

"We don't have the best but everyone playing"

He regretted that due to the warmer winters, there were hardly any more opportunities to prepare ice in their own stadium on the Müllerberg.

Nevertheless, efforts are still being made to encourage the children and young people in the village to do sports.

And all without any performance considerations.

Seidl emphasized: "Our philosophy is: Not the best but everyone has to play for us."

With great applause from the birthday guests, Anton Huber was finally appointed honorary chairman of the association.

Huber had been at the helm of EC Thanning for more than 21 years.

The official part was finally decided by Hans Sappl (ice hockey) and Peter Liebhart (soccer), who gave a humorous look back at six decades of EC Thanning, peppered with numerous anecdotes.
