At Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem, excavations began this week to discover another trench at the site, 55 years after the difficult battle on the hill during the Six Day War.
This is a canal that looked towards the east, and from where the Jordanian soldiers looked out towards Mount Scopus.
Over the years since then, the canal has been covered in mud, soil and dust.
The tours that are held at the site today for civilians and soldiers pass only through the two well-known canals, the middle and the western.
However, in recent years, many inquiries have come from soldiers who fought there and claimed that there is also an eastern canal.
"We expect to find treasures as well."

"This is a trench that our good men fought for in order to occupy the place and open the way for other brigades on the way to Mount Scopus," said the director general of Keteri Maoz Ammunition Hill. In recent weeks, we planned the excavation and used very old aerial photographs to find the third, eastern trench. We knew that there was An eastern bunker that very few people know about, after careful planning this week we started the excavations in the place where we think the canal is."
"We also expect to find treasure islands inside the canal, which may shed light on the great battle that took place here and claimed the lives of 21 fighters on the hill itself and another 16 fighters at the nearby police school and another 15 fighters who were killed when breaking through fences at the police school and on the way to the ammunition hill," he added stronghold.
