In view of the persistent heat and drought, the Berlin fire brigade has once again expressly warned of the dangers of forest fires.
It is important that people follow certain rules, said fire department spokesman Thomas Kirstein on Thursday in the ZDF morning magazine.
“The biggest problem is that smoking is not allowed in the forest.
No smoking, no fire in the forest.”
Berlin – With the current high warning levels, barbecuing is prohibited there anyway.
Residents of the forest have to keep a safety distance of 100 meters when barbecuing, longer distances are even better.
Second, people arriving by car should use the official forest parking lots.
"It's a big problem that many park on the side of the road with the hot engine parts and then ignite the dry grass." Fires would break out again and again.
Thirdly, it is important: "Whatever is brought into the forest must also be taken out again."
This garbage can burn in addition to the dry wood.
Basically, the recommendation is: "Stay on the forest paths." dpa
