A rather unusual foreclosure auction is taking place at the district court in Wolfratshausen: Among other things, two ski lifts on Sudelfeld are going under the hammer.

Bayrischzell

– Anyone who has always wanted to have their own ski lift will have the rare opportunity to do so on Friday, August 12th.

At 9.30 a.m., two tugs go under the hammer in meeting room 1 of the district court in Wolfratshausen: the middle Sudelfeld lift and the slab lift.

They are part of two areas with a total size of almost 22,800 hectares, which are to be auctioned off for a total market value of 5.738 million euros.

"For the purpose of disassociation," as the notice says.

The managing director of Bergbahnen Sudelfeld GmbH, Egid Stadler, will definitely take a seat in the courtroom, he announced when asked by our newspaper.

Stadler leaves open whether he will make a bid.

Ultimately, that also depends on which and how many other bidders take part in the auction.

"It's a closed book," says Stadler.

Lifts have been idle for years

On the other hand, the boss of the mountain railways knows the matter much better, since the two lifts are located directly in the Sudelfeld ski area.

For many years they have been moving up the slopes, but since 2019 they have stood still.

As reported, the community of heirs who own the facilities could not agree on an extension of the contract with the Sudelfeld mountain railways.

This disagreement has now culminated in the foreclosure sale.

For Stadler there is a good chance that hangers could be hanging on the ropes again soon.

At least that's what the mountain railways are hoping for.

It doesn't matter who gets the bid in the end: A good business relationship based on a standard market lease price is needed again, says Stadler.

Because even if the two lifts are not essential for the functioning of the ski area: Beginners in particular would miss them a lot.

But what happens when the exact opposite occurs?

So a bidder who wants to create a private ski area with the two lifts is awarded the contract?

That, says Stadler, is not feasible.

The slopes are leased to the Bergbahnen Sudelfeld, in addition, a publicly dedicated municipal road runs through them.

"You can't just shut us out," Stadler is convinced.

Lift only part of the auction mass

In any case, the two lifts are only part of the auction mass.

This also includes an agricultural pasture with living quarters and stables, as well as a machine barn and a spruce forest that can be used for forestry purposes.

According to Stadler, the recommissioning of the lifts will probably be associated with a few hurdles.

In view of its age (built in 1960 and 1962), it is probably not enough to just press a few buttons.

"It's like an old car.

The longer it stands, the more you have to do,” explains the ski resort manager.

Not to mention the technical acceptance.

Ultimately, one would even have to ask oneself whether demolition and new construction would not be the more economical solution.

Now it is important to wait for the outcome of the auction.
