They have joined forces to help: Twelve municipalities have now met in the district office to exchange information.

District

– Around 1,750 war refugees from Ukraine are currently registered in the district of Freising, around 650 of whom live in district accommodation, the others are housed privately.

A total of around 2,100 people from a wide variety of backgrounds currently live in the decentralized accommodation provided by the district.

The communities want to support these people and help them to integrate more easily: That was the tenor of a network meeting in the district office, in which the contacts from twelve communities in the Freising district recently took part, as reported by district office press spokesman Robert Stangl

District administrator Helmut Petz reported that "from January 2023 the Freising district will take over the position of integration officer at the district office as a voluntary service, since the Leader funding of the Free State of Bavaria will expire at the end of this year".

Opportunity right of residence

In addition, Petz informed about the planned right of residence: Tolerated people should get a one-year residence permit.

"You can use this time to meet the requirements for a right to stay," says the draft law.

Chain tolerations are no longer necessary, instead it is about long-term prospects of staying.

The integration officer, Nathalie von Pressentin, reported on the founding of the integration advisory board, whose statutes were adopted by the district council at the end of June.

"The Integration Advisory Board is intended to act as a mouthpiece between people with a migration background and the local population and aims to preventively contribute to peaceful coexistence in the Freising district through mutual exchange," said von Pressentin.

The constitutive meeting will take place at the end of September.

Cooperation of the integration officers

The network meeting "Education and Integration in Moosburg", a cooperation between the integration officers, the educational region and social planning in the district, was also presented.

Official spokesman Robert Stangl: "All those responsible for the community came together there on the subject of 'education and integration' and examined educational offers and needs.

Many cooperations have already taken place locally in the municipalities, so the format is to be continued.

The district office is happy to support other interested communities in organizing a similar event.”

The integration officer pointed out the municipality of Langenbach as a good example: a social office was set up there to coordinate the entire topic of "integration".

The municipality also employed an interpreter.

Medical care

Stangl concludes: "The representatives of the network communities named the medical care during the transition period of the refugees from the social administration to the job center as a challenge, since no health insurance certificates were available during this time."
