From Thursday, August 11, 2022 to Sunday, August 21, 2022, the European Championships 2022 will take place in Munich and other districts with many different venues.

Therefore, during this period, especially on the two Sundays, August 14, 2022 and August 21, 2022, there may be significant traffic obstructions in southern and western Upper Bavaria and in Munich.

On these days, professional cycle races take place starting from Murnau am Staffelsee and from Landsberg am Lech.

Both road bike races end in Munich at Odeonsplatz after several laps have been completed in the state capital.

Furthermore, a triathlon between Dachau and the Munich Olympic Park will take place on August 14th, 2022, which will also result in considerable traffic obstructions in this area.

In order to ensure both safety and the smoothest possible road traffic, more than 1,000 police officers are on duty in addition to the organizer's security forces.

For a trouble-free, unhindered and safe implementation of the cycle race, stopping bans must be set up both on the cycle course and in the rest of the city area.

We ask that these traffic regulations, which can be seen a few days in advance, be taken into account.

Vehicles parked along the cycle track must be towed away.

Please note that the vehicles will be removed before the start of the sporting events so that the respective construction measures can be guaranteed.

In order to save you the costs of the warning on the one hand and considerable costs and effort due to towing on the other hand, we ask you to comply with these stopping restrictions.

If you are on vacation, make sure that someone (friends, neighbors) has a look at your parked car every three days at the latest and can move it if necessary.

The route of the two road bike races as well as the triathlon and further details can be found on the organizer's website https://www.munich2022.com/de/anwohnerinfo.

If you have any questions, your local police station or the organization team of the European Championships 2022 will be happy to help you at info@munich2022.com.

Supporting program around the event

Already on Saturday, August 13th, Murnau will transform the area around the culture and conference center into a small festival area.

It starts at 11:00 a.m. with the benefit race in the Kulturpark.

A bike course and a rubber duck fishing station await the guests.

The bright yellow donation ducks are available from Murnau Tourist Information.

The proceeds then go to Kunterbunt eV.

The association organizes trips for people with disabilities.

Younger visitors can let off steam in the bouncy castles on both days of the event or transform themselves into colorful fantasy creatures with face painting on Saturday, while adults get inspiration for their next vacation at the leisure fair in neighboring holiday regions or find out more about e-mobility .

You can also talk shop with the professionals for everything to do with bikes.

At 2:00 p.m. you can pedal with Mayor Rolf Beuting on a 360-degree tour around Murnau (registration via the Tourist Information).

In the evening, Murnau celebrates its big cultural highlight of the sports weekend with a concert by the Bavarian-Egyptian musician Kaled: it starts at 7:30 p.m. at the music shell in the culture park, admission is free.

Then DJ Haui heats up with party music and provides the right calf training, without any bicycle pedals.

On Sunday, August 14, from 8:00 a.m., the professional cyclists can be seen up close in the paddock at the Tengelmann Center and in the Feneberg car park.

The names of the participants can be viewed on the website www.munich2022.com/de/radsport one day before the start.

The thrill will be felt as teams prepare for launch.

A unique opportunity, not only for autograph hunters.

At 10:15 a.m. the starting shot is fired in the center of the pedestrian zone and the 180 professionals set off on the approx. 209 km long race track to the finish in Munich.

If you want, you can follow the entire race live at the public viewing in the music shell.

Towards evening it gets cozy in the open-air cinema in front of the music shell.

The classic Pippi Longstocking and the travel bike film "verplaned" will be shown.

It tells the story of two young men who set their minds to cycling from Germany to Vietnam.

With a lot of humour, unstoppable encouragement and comparatively little physical condition, they take the audience with them on their adventure
