Children's drawings in support of firefighters are starting to come off the windows of the village hall in Hostens, in Gironde.
Since mid-July, the local has never closed its doors.
It welcomes off-duty firefighters, the town hall crisis unit and volunteers who have come to lend a hand.
"We are very tired, it's been non-stop night and day for a month
," sighs Marie Mallet, general manager of city services.
The first fire, brought under control at the end of July, seemed to calm down despite dozens of hot spots to monitor on the 13,800 hectares burned.
Tuesday evening, a virulent recovery dashed hopes of a return to normal life.
“There is a feeling of wear and tear, we have been fighting with this fire for a month.
We feel that there is no end ”,
despairs the municipal employee.
The fabric of his orange waistcoat is covered with the crests of each fire station or police force, which came as reinforcements from all over France.
